well there was...

October 23 2009, 10:45 AM

a footballer called Peter Haddock who played for Newcastle a few years back

a tennis player called Mardy Fish from the US as well as Tony Roche (Roach)

Maradona was alleged to have used the 'Hand of Cod' to batter one past Shilton

but the only other cricketer who springs to mind (three times over) was the Pollock family

Oh, and I think the Roger you refer to had a brother called Jeff who also played first class cricket for a short while

and a few players used to bat with the SS Turbo(t) bat in the past

Wasn't there a CODdington a few years back? Footballer Bert Trautman.
Brett Lee's bowling has gone backwards in recent years so he could be called Eel Tterb nowadays.

"Long John" Tunny-Cliffe?

Sadly neither WN Roe of Somerset or his son WN Roe of Buckinghamshire seems to have played against EH Sturgeon of the Transvaal.

On the names front, I'm still waiting for a match between Namibia and Durham, so that we can have Burger ct Mustard b Onions.
