No, but if I was already wealthy and well-known in my field, I wouldn't lower myself to this sort of activity for the few pounds it would add to my already large stash.
Some prominent athletes, politicians and public figures (Obama, Herbert Sutcliffe, Len Hutton, etc.) have style, taste, manners and elegance in the way they present themselves to the world at large...some are destined to travel in tourist class, or act like chavs.
I guess the old adage that money can't buy class or wisdom was lost on our Darren.
At the beginning period of their height of fame, Slade released ''Look Wot You dun'' as a single. Not because they thought it was ultra fantastic but because it was the best they had at the time and it kept them in the public eye long enough for them to do something better.
I doubt a Costcutter advert is the height of Darren's ambition but it may just fill a gap until something better comes along? It's got us talking so the theory can't be too bad.
''I'm a celebrity, get me into here'' is drawing closer and a drunken Geordie or a dancing Yorkie might be the choice for this years cheeky chappy.
Much adieu about nothing. Darren is Darren. He won't change and who cares what he does. If he wants to embarrass himself by selling crisps for a few extra quid, then so be it.
However its interesting that the ad focuses more on Gough the dancer rather than the cricketer.
Could they not have shown him bowling a pork pie down the cold meats and dairy products aisle into a set of stumps made up of tins of beans?
Then moved on to the bakery and fruit and veg aisle to show him batting with a baguette or a stick of rhubarb whilst Michael Vaughan tweaked a few offies with a satsuma?
The fish counter could have shown Goughy's 'catch of the day' as he dived one handed to snaffle a crab inches from the floor.
TC is obviously in the realms of fantisy ... Gough taking a low catch?
The action of a fielder falling to the ground to make sure he doesn't have to bother chasing a ball to the boundary has been called 'A Goughy Dive' by my little group for years (i.e.the term was in use before Mr G left for Essex).

please see the Hoggard sacked thread for my next suggestion for the Gough and Hoggard double act to do the Morecambe and Wise legendary Stripper sketch in order to promote Cost Cutters latest offers.
