Choose me! Me! Me! Me!

I'm amazed at how quickly younger player's these days announce their intention of making the Test team. It's almost a right of passage that even after one good season or a good streak of scores or bowling performances, that it is imperative that all and sundry be made aware that you are ready for the big money.

Yorkshire players in particular, seem to be really adept at getting the media to follow along and help out with the formalities of the public announcement. It's as if they've all attended the Darren Gough/Michael Vaughan school of self- promotion.

Good for him.

Personally I'd be far more worried about any young batsman who didn't harbour International ambitions. Would you prefer it if he humbly confessed that he didn't think he'd ever be good enough?
I think we need to see more self belief and aggression from Mr Sayers - good for him!

This can also just be lazy journalism. If you're an uninspired reporter, you're going to ask would he like to be in the Test team, he's going to say yes because he can't say no without looking feeble. If there's nothing better in the interview, then you have your headline.
