Re: CHAMPIONSHIP | Warwickshire vs Yorkshire at Birmingham (Day 3)

Sorry Martin, did not mean to criticise you, he had been very frugal up to your posting.

However, I have noticed a trend with Patto --- very frugal for his first 6 or 7 overs (about 1 an over usually), then he always seems to start getting some tap.

EDIt --- Patto now our most expensive bowler. But with Siddy injured, not many options now.

Yep, we could do with some rain now for the reasons mentioned earlier. Only three fit seamers (and one of them just a controller/container), and two well set batsmen with plenty of quality batting to come. It could be a long long days bowling with no reward without some showers to break things up a bit.

We have not looked convincing at all today. Both wicket balls were good - Brooks' nipping back to clip the bails, leaving the stumps untouched, and Rashid's turning nicely to clip Bell's edge. The other 350 odd balls have been pretty unmemorable...

a wash out for the rest of the day would suit with hopefully some chances for additional bonus points tomorrow

not really the start to the season we hoped for this

question marks around bowling and batting but early days

Off again for rain. Can`t see us having any chance of winning now, just need to get as many bowling points as we can.

Hope Siddy is not long term, but could be if it is an ankle injury. 8 weeks last season with similar. Could be no Bresnan, no Siddy, and no Plunkett, Rashid & Willey once the ODI`s start. Hopefully Bresnan back by then.

Would not fancy bowling many teams out with an last 5 of Rhodes, Patterson, Carver, Brooks & Fisher. Would not get many runs either.

Certainly, it isn't ideal but I suppose we drew our first two games last season before hitting our straps properly - though our scoring and bowling did seem a bit more consistent even at that early stage last year.

At work, about a mile from the ground. It is almost dark outside and it is snowing heavily. Crazy.

Bearing in mind the weather and the daft toss arrangements, only one team has won a match (and lost one) so we are not badly placed, especially if we can beat Notts and Surrey before the test matches take their toll on our squad. I would not be too concerned to have Willey and Fisher opening the bowling with Patterson and one other seamer plus Rashid. The batting worries me more especially if lose Bairstow and probably Ballance.

I heard on commentary that Fisher is still a couple of weeks away from full fitness after the injury he picked up in Abu Dhabi.
