Weather is set fair, sun out but cold this morning. Forecast looks good until about 1600.

Looks like a draw - unless Ryan can take six wickets in his first four overs.
Which isn't impossible.

Having allowed them to take the third bowling point, we need to press on for our fifth. We must assume the draw, while pressing for the win, and remember that all points count (as the TESCO self-service machine endlessly, irritatingly, reminds us!)

Just nipped out for a fag break here in York. By God its cold. Serious question- have any professional cricketers ever had to be treated after suffering from hypothermia?
And before anyone says it: I discount Chris Old.

From this entertaining piece on extreme weather:

http://www.espncricinfo.com/magazine/content/story/299859.html

"On the third day of Essex's match at Fenners on April 24, 1981, the umpires took the players from the field because of the biting cold that made the ball all but impossible to grip. Movement was hampered by everyone wearing several layers of sweaters, and it was so cold that Cambridge University's captain, Derek Pringle, could not see because his eyes were streaming so much - he still made 66. The problem was caused by a freezing south-easterly wind and the umpires invoked a new Law (included in the 1980 code) which allowed them to stop play in "extreme conditions". To everyone's relief, rain washed the day's play out after an early lunch."

Well...if they're gonna get that 5th bonus point, they might have to chuck the bat a bit. They needed 32 from 33 balls overnight.

They now need 25 from 16...

Unless they think this last pair can score 450 by batting sensibly.

OK, so that was taken out of our hands by Woakes.

Now time for our boys to have a go.

Not sure what that was all about this morning, except that they will need a few more now to avoid follow on or it is so cold they liked dressing room better!

Declaring at 350-8 just to deprive Warwicks of a bonus point might have been regarded as an extraordinary declaration contrary to ECB rules for the Championship.
Not worth running the risk of a points deduction. Also it would just lead to retaliation in this game or future games between the sides.

But we were 9 down overnight so they already had full bowling points. Siddy starts with expensive first over - must be cold!

I'll bet the edges have been flying 'in-between' slips who have been happily 'flagging it through'.

Tony Frost of Warwicks used to have a bit a nip about him, I recall

ditto John Snow

On a more serious note, Ryan is off injured, sadly.

Hope Ryan was just suffering from frost bite and will be OK to resume after lunch. It is very likely he will need to be rested for next match and hopefully we will see David Willey making his CC debut for us on Sunday.

Ankle injury. At least we have cover for him with a very similar bowler in Willey, with the added bonus of him being a decent batsman and better fielder. Will not weaken the overall side that much - lose a bit in the bowling, gain a little bit more in the batting and fielding.

Not that mean, 10 of his last over, but it`s wickets we want. Do we want them 200 for 1, at close of play or 300 all out??

We are only only playing now for bowling points, so we need 8 more wickets to get them and without Siddy it`s going to be a hard task.

I think, showers for the rest of today and tomorrow, will stop anything but a draw.

Would settle for several breaks in play now and a stop-start session or two. Mainly to rest our three bowlers but it would also help break up the batsmens concentration. Would help our cause a great deal.

Patto had bowled 6 overs for 7 runs when I posted - he was mean then!

Patto's just had a couple of bloody expensive overs (as far as Patto's expensive overs go).

Time for him to stop thinking he's an all rounder and stick to his batting if you ask me!

Looks like another high scoring draw. 2 good batsmen at the crease as well so could be a long cold afternoon in the field
