Read out for 101, I rest my case.
Is he the most selfish, self-centred skipper on the circuit?
Mind you not a bad batting record for someone not considered a good enough batsman to keep wicket on more occasions for England.

We do seem to have been on the wrong end of some terrible decisions, both when batting and bowling

Not sure what Chris Read has done wrong in this instance? Apart from a match saving innings for his side!

If he declared at lunch we would have probably chased it down with relative ease. I think the rate would have only been around 4 per over. Short boundary, fast outfield, perfect batting conditions, long batting line up with several quick scorers. He would have been mad to give us a sniff after fighting so hard to save the game.

Cant help but feel if not for the 4 hours lost on Monday this would have been a cracking finish.

80 overs lost in the first two days, so really it is now the third day of the match. As you say, it would have been a great finish to the game if not for the interruptions.

Assuming a draw here, it`s 5 matches so far this season and no wins yet, thanks mainly to the weather but the flat wickets favouring the batting side not helping either.

Can not see much changing in the next two matches, Surrey scoring big in every innings so far this season, but have no bowlers so that points to a high scoring draw next week at Headingley then it`s the "road" at Taunton.

Chris Read

May 4 2016, 4:01 PM

have to agree with Dwight here, lots of negativity about how poorly we bowled today, but we should give masses of credit to Chris Read, who after a nightmare behind the stumps and in front of the stumps yesterday, battled it out for a great match saving century against all the odds.

Credit where credit is due.

Re: Chris Read

It's pure sour grapes on my part but Read has got previous if you look at other Notts' games over the past few seasons.
But as has been said losing so many overs (nearly a full day's play) to the weather has to be the major reason for the probable draw in this game.
The forecast so far for next week's game against our second least favourite county is looking set fair apart from a possible shower or so at teatime on Sunday.

Hope Plunkett is padded up. Should be next in to have a dart at this.

Eight an over. Outside chance. We certainly have the batting line up to give it a go

I was thinking that too - nothing to lose by having a thrash for five overs and see where you get to..
If this was T20 - and yes i know its a different game - but i cant see us losing from here.

The difference with T20 is that Read can spread all his field around the boundary & the wide rules are different.
Send in David Willey if Ballance is next out, Plunkett if it's Root.

Bairstow before Plunkett isn't a bad move.
Good to keep RH/LH batsmen going.

Anyone see that six from Bairstow off Broad? Absolutely ridiculous.

This may a first class cricket match, but there's a third class umpire standing at one end.

These last 20 overs have been great fun. Someone should base a game around that.
