Middx have bowled Warwicks out with a lead of 70, so we need to wrap this up soonest!

Cricket never fails to surprise - the state of games can change dramatically in less than one hour. Like Middlesex, we could also have a useful lead on first innings.

Nice captaincy - Brooks gets his 4th so Siddy gets a rest and Jack grabs a fifer. 59 ahead and looking good

Double Nelson strikes.
Will we lose points due to a slow over rate?

I was impressed with Jack Brooks all round performance at Scarborough and he is continuing that form in this match. Fully deserved 5 wicket haul and we have a useful lead in the match. If we can win on Saturday whilst the rain hits Midlands then ...!

That was a dramatic collapse 188-3 to 222 all out.

Excellent effort

Excellent all round effort.

Not much in the wicket but bowlers stuck at it. It is hot here but Siddy bowled 19 overs, how does he keep it going?

Over rate back to -1 from -3 just before tea, only 8 overs from Rafiq.

The catching was good as was the ground fielding, with the odd exception.

Lead of 59, 23 overs left, should be no problem with light, 140+ ahead by close of play?

Great bowling. Vince and Ervine are their top players but the rest did not seem up to it against accurate bowling.

Job half done. Time for some batsmen to redeem themselves and knuckle down.

Don't worry about the Middlesex game. Warwickshire were poor v us and I suspect they are no better this week. Just means we need to beat Middlesex in their own back yard to win the title. Fitting wAy to wave off Dizzy.

I read Middlesex were missing half a dozen players today with no Morgan Finn Voges Murtagh or Stirling. Welcome to our world

It seems remarkable how often Brooks mops up the tail.
I wonder what his stats are re the batting order position of the batsmen he's dismissed?

How are we for light? Likely to get a full allocation of overs in tonight?

Based on what I've seen there will be much mention of the missing Middlesex team members but very little of our losses .... Although Willey & Plunkett were already known when we signed them so we can't moan. Bairstow sitting on his rs is worth a good moan though.

To be fair he wasn't sitting when he took that stumping earlier.

Steady start but poor Alex Lees just does not seem to go on to big scores this season 😟

A very good day in the end, which didn't look likely when Hants were 199-4.

Interesting bit of revisionism re: Plunkett there; he hadn't played for England in 3 years before he joined Yorkshire and wasn't even making the Durham side towards the end of his spell there.

Well we've ended up in something like the position I expected at the start of the day, not exactly how I imagined we'd get there though!

Alex Lees may not have achieved big scores in this game but has over a 1000 runs in first class cricket and an average over 40. Only one in team this season at present.

Lees hasn't quite got the 1,000 yet but he is very close indeed. To suggest he hasn't had scores this season is not quite right as you say, 2 hundreds and 6s 50 from 24 innings - decent enough for a young opener. Not sure why people miss this about his season. One day form was rubbish and his T20 was mixed.

do we take notice of the dodgy weather forecast for saturday, or just play the game out normally and not force the pace?.

Forget the weather, we have to force the pace regardless.
