Nice to see Matthew Fisher back in the squad. Hopefully we'll see much more of him next year.

Can i suggest that we stop worrying about the players who aren't there and focus on the XI who are on the pitch?
This looks like a cracking game to me - should be excellent and i think we'll win.

The weather just south of Leeds is now sunny, warm & humid.
I think Durham may choose to have the toss.

They've put us in. First thing this morning it looked like a certain bowling day over head. It's not looking as bad now.

Three uncontested tosses with away team deciding to bowl. Only Ian Bell bucking the trend down at Taunton and he lost the toss so fielding anyway.

Funny team Durham with some obvious strengths and then a few we know little about but if they have come through the local leagues they will be good players

Geordies are Tynesiders.

Didn't we resolve that Durham are Gadgies?

Fisher is 12th man.

Batting as expected and team as well, but good to give Fisher 12th man duties and get feel of CC cricket again 😀

Oh dear God, "DT" is on the radio team. 4 days of him and Cally is a lot to bear.....Durham's Marty will at least bring some proper analysis and dry wit to the airwaves.

Here we go.....

I am an always bat first man if given the choice but with our problems in our top order I will be checking scores very nervously this morning.

Dam Lyth already gone!

Sadly not unexpected against these bowlers with early morning movement - not playing the moving ball is a good openers skill. Six down before lunch on first day again?!

I think you might be a little bit early with your pessimism Alibor. Or at least I hope so.

Best opening attack after Siddy and Brooks on rhe county circuit with a new ball at headingley and a 10.30 start in September on a day with cloud cover.

Several leg byes also a steer as to the ball wobbling around perhaps.

I can excuse Lyth I think

Every side put in today has lost a wicket pretty much. As a poster said, Onions and Rushworth, 10:30, Leeds in September: their coach would roast them if the didn't get SOMEONE out!

I'm just pleased our coaches are not as pessimistic as we are. Six wickets before lunch!? They would never get out of bed!

Doesn't look like a bowling day to me, I suspect that sides are too scared to bat first at Headingley against our attack though.
