63-1 at the end of the first hour. And a six to boot! Good intent by the lads.

Colly first change?

MacArthy another seamer from Ireland and some spin from Pringle and Borthwick but I suggest we keep the opening attack out of the firing line and should do ok.

Somerset who won only toss of the day and chose to bat now 40-6

Fine century partnership taking us safely to lunch - well done to both! (my false pessimism worked- hope it will continue)

Excellent first session from Yorkshire, only one down at lunch and with a good scoring rate which will help with bonus points as well as progressing the game too. More of the same this afternoon please Alex and Gary!

Our session on balance (excuse the pun).

Notts have appointed Moores as new coach replacing England selector Newell. Not much good if an England selector is sacked by his county and replaced by a coach sacked by England

Great morning. Durham packed their team with batsmen then chose to bowl. Their fear is almost tangible; hopefully our boys can feel it.

Brilliant progress from Alex and Gary, giving Rushworth his comeuppance. Of course there have been some on here who have been clutching at the straw that if we get bowled out cheaply or for less than three hundred, we usually go on to win. Well, I want us to grab maximum batting points, as a failure to collect maximum batting bonus points in recent weeks may come back to haunt us.

Moores isn't replacing Newell, he's remaining as Director of Cricket while Moores moves from Coaching Consultant to Head Coach. Does seem odd to effectively rubber stamp a system which appears to be failing.

I imagine that the Moores/Newell arrangement is effectively rubber stamping what is already happening in practice

I wonder if we should declare on 275 or 280 since we never seem to win matches anymore when we amass a much bigger score. (No I'm not being serious, but one or two others on here seem to reckon we are at our most lethal when we score less than three hundred. Silly talk.) Let's get as many runs as possible and then take twenty wickets.

Richardson gone off injured

Durham keeper going off injured couldn't quite tell what was wrong with him. Colly taken the gloves so a bowler down now

Fine partnership, pity Ballance did not get a ton but has laid good foundation. Delighted for Alex Lees.

Another captain's innings from Gale - a quick seventeen.....par for the course from him nowadays. A spent force, I'm afraid.
