Somerset 211 all out....Warwickshire need 184 to win.

Would not like to predict but I suspect there will be MORE pressure on Somerset's spinners in the second innings than there was in the first.

Gubbins out, Middx 7 down, still no bonus point. Which won't matter if they win and we don't......Go Notts!

Somerset look like winning then & being right in the mix, certainly no road at Taunton these days

Warwicks in all kinds of trouble at Taunton: Trott and Bell gone as part of 33-4. Somerset heading for a win in two days. Pitch inspectors permitting....

Sussex similarly likely to get a win in two at Grace Road in Div 2.

If Somerset are not docked points then the pitch inspectors should be sacked for gross incompetence or made redundant as their role is no longer required

Exactly.
But the surprise to me is that Jeetan Patel in most people's eyes the best finger spinner in the Caounty Chamionship wasn't even more effective.

Like the Monty Python mob's "Black Knight", Warwicks are not beaten yet...closed on 131/8 after being 61/8 chasing 184.

Clarke & Wright 70 unbroken - best stand of match by far.

Somerset win by 31 runs.
No points deduction for a sub-standard pitch.
All due to bad batting.
As I've posted elsewhere, incredible!
Maybe Somerset won't get away with the pitch after all, this has just been posted on the BBC site:

"Somerset's victory could still be subject to investigation by the England and Wales Cricket Board, who had pitch liaison officer Phil Whitticase present after 21 wickets fell on the first day on a used pitch.

Of the 40 wickets in the match, 22 fell to spin, of which home spinners Leach (8-90) and Championship debutant Bess (8-59) took 16 between them, Warwickshire's Jeetan Patel taking the other six."

With Taunton usually a batsman's paradise, there must be questions asked about the wicket they used for this unusual match.

Michael Lumb out again - not having good end of season. Hope Notts can build decent score and set Middlesex a tough target.

Poysden took 3 wickets too, so 25 to spin.

Notts now effectively 156-5. That's not going to be enough. Samit still at the wicket.

And now Read has gone. Looking good for Middx. Where is Notts' spirit? Lose this & they're down.

Not shown any spirit all season that is why they are going down, so if us & Middlesex both win which is looking likely at the moment one point behind them with two games to go
