Peter - dot balls don't mean that we werent trying. By all means blame lack of skill or nous, just don't assume that we we weren't trying. East Coast type suggests from the commentary that Hodd wasnt able to get through the infield - but he was trying to score the runs.

Re: CHAMPIONSHIP | Yorkshire vs Durham at Leeds (Day 2)

My point is that we left it too late to get to 400 and when we tried, we had no "plan B" ready when wickets fell near to 110 overs. We were probably (again!) outwitted by Collingwood by negative bowling and defensive field placement but it will be interesting to hear what people thought who are at the ground actually watching the match! Could posters please use the original message title as one of my pseudonyms seems to have been superimposed 😀

I am here. We were leaving deliveries that could have been played at. Jennings just been dropped in slips off shoddy. Easy chance

I love the idea of our new bowler called "Shoddy"....
That will be auto-correct i suspect.

As feared, they are off to flier in the afternoon sunshine ... we need to cast spell to get breakthrough! Stoneman must be demob happy with nothing to lose.

I am going to switch from following this game to the one at Trent Bridge, where Middx are doing their best to saw their own legs off...five down, pushing half the overs gone and not yet at 100.

Dropping Jennings a costly slip.

Stoneman gone, and I would say a classic (and excellent) piece of Gale captaincy. Brooks was expensive so whipped him off, gave him time to cool down and then bring him back on and get the reward

Don't think we need to debate whether to enforce the follow on....

We were 90/1 at the same point yesterday. We shouldn't assume that they will roll over, but they have a long way to go to overhaul our total - and 200 more needed to avoid the follow on

I really hope we are not panicking. We have pulled back the scoring rate at least (18 off the last 10 overs). Just one wicket could bring a couple. Come on Yorkshire!!!

Still early days but looks like more chance of a result at Trent Bridge.

I think its a bit of a push to predict a Middlesex win at this stage. If we were six down and 80 odd behind on first innings, I can't imagine anyone suggesting that we were in the box seat for a win. Quite the reverse in fact.

Gubbins can steer Middlesex to a lead maybe.

Franklin and Roland-Jones can bat.

EDIT...timely wicket for Patterson - I bet Lehmann (the dropped catch?) feels a bit better.
