Re: CHAMPIONSHIP | Yorkshire vs Somerset (Pre-match Thread)

Risky, IMO, to play Patto, given his situation. Give the poor guy some compassionate leave. His mind will be elsewhere anyway. What happens if his family situation worsens, he has to leave, and we are a bowler light for the whole match. It is not as if we are short of bowling back up.

Fully expect us to be batting tomorrow first thing, and also expect an early wicket or two. Followed by a recovery and 450 plus.

450 sounds good to me, a similar pattern to the Durham gane would be fantastic.
I've no idea what the issue with Patterson is as some seem to but if it's something that is ongoing then it makes perfect sense on a human level (if not a cricketing one) that he is left out of the team, unless of course he is adamant that playing would be of help to him to deal with things.

Patto's father is in intensive care according to Gale. He bowled fine on his return during the Durham game so I would suggest it's entirely his call.

Not sure i agree with that.

If he gets worse, patto will have to leave....leaving us a bowler short.

Thanks patto, you have been great all season, now go look after your father.

plunkett should play.

Patto`s father is in intensive care according to the YP and the "Press". Compassion should override cricketing needs.

Let's hope so Martin. Patto will be left to calculate the situation for himself. Plunkett has got the X Factor for sure, but Patto is accuracy personified.

Am I right in thinking that last week's game was our first match of the season that wasn't interrupted by the weather?

We had a 10 minute rain delay, but we never lost any overs.
