Somerset v Notts

Somerset won the toss and are batting with a spin dominant team including Leach, Bess and now van der Merwe as Groenewald and another seamer make way.

Wonder what sort of a track it is at Taunton.

Would laugh my head off if they get a two day win and then the pitch inspector docks them points but suspect the pitch inspector appointed by Strauss will be Mike Gatting.

slightly concerned about this.

We cannot afford for somerset to get maximum batting points.

It will not turn yet, but they have picked three spinners (as have Notts), so you can bet you last dollar it will.

So much for Stu's prediction that Somerset would produce a bowler-friendly wicket, or are you now going to suggest that Somerset just happen to be batting really well on a contrived results pitch?! Somerset 185 for 2 at time of typing.

Think we need to wait and see how Notts bat before we come to any conclusions on the Taunton wicket. A bowler-friendly wicket still needs good bowlers to exploit it

Somerset are going to rack up 600 here, can't really see Notts putting up much fight, hopefully I am wrong & Samit & somebody else get big hundreds

have to agree here with you fozzie.

declare an hour before close of play tomorrow and hope the pitch breaks up.

we need to score 400, simple as.

What are the weather prospects in Taunton? Depending on which website you look at it is either showers tomorrow and Wednesday or fine!

Glad to be spectacularly wrong with my 600 prediction, my post seemed to trigger that collapse, what a collapse it was

Bloody hell just seen the Somerset score (Cricinfo live scores page wasn't updating property for me on the mobile site)- that is an incredible collapse!

As it stands we just (!) need a win making 300 in the first innings, or 350 if Somerset's last pair make the 28 more they need for 350. Still just about possible...

a little confused with the bookies here.

i would have thought we had a better chance of winning the title tonight then at 10.30 this morning.

middlesex are still there for the taking and we only need to score 300.

yet we have drifted from 2/1 to 3/1 and middx now evens

Bookies odds only reflect the amount of money placed and how much they'd lose as a result.

Would say we have less chance of winning it than we had at the start of the day, at the start of the day a 19 point victory may have been enough but now looking like will probably have to be a 22 or 23 point victory

Certainly got more chance than we had at 4.30 anyway

The spinners are on early. 5 overs and 5 maidens for Bess.
