Isn't that the 4th ball they've had?

They can have a pink one with sky blue spots on and the shape of a Rubiks Cube.

Our lads will still find a way

Did the replacement ball swing more? Unseemly anyway. Why do the umpires go along with it?

Middlesex are -6. What are the consequences?

Another fiddle - Bresnan given out by third umpire when no evidence that Finn had anything behind the no ball line. If we fail to get to 350 we should make damn sure that Middlesex cannot win the title. Sorry, thank goodness it was not Bresnan.

Patto out.

17 needed to lead by 80 and ensure we could potentially still win the CC.

I am stuck at work and starting to worry.

What an effort to get this far.

Nervous lunch for everyone. Nip and tuck now. Brooks has 1 ball to face straight after lunch, then Tim has to somehow farm the strike.

Middlesex are -6 with over rate, so they could have 6 points deducted. Have not done the Maths but could mean they will not be Champions even if they win. Could mean having to bowl there joke bowlers in our second innings to get the over rate back.

Assuming Somerset get the near certain win.

What if Middlesex end up 120 behind and realise that themselves winning this match is just not realistic.

Might they be (relatively) content to try and see the game out, knowing that finishing 2nd is rewarded £80k more than finishing 3rd?

Somerset leading by 540 at lunch. If they come out to bat again afterwards they really don't deserve a crack at the title!

Weather update at Lords

September 22 2016, 12:46 PM

12.45 Live from Lords
We have gone from bright sunshine with clouds to much darker clouds with no sunshine and the odd spot of rain in the air!
Absolutely enthralling encounter, nail biting time for those further 17 runs.

Should be bonus runs to the opposition for slow over rate. 3 per over behind required rate sounds about right.

Possible lunchtime discussion between captains "let us get beyond 350 and we will declare and make competitive match!"!? Anyone else think it was no ball?

I think at 8 down we can't do too much haggling about declarations, I suspect they'd take more joy in putting us out of it.

On the one hand they might think keeping us in it gives them a better chance to win by setting us a chase, on the other hand maybe we'll drop off if we have nothing to play for.
