Cricket Archive

Whilst commenting on the Semi Final thread I thought I'd try & work out how many One Day semis we've lost since 2002. Sadly I'm unable to do this because CricketArchive have decided that adverts aren't making them enough money so are going behind a pay wall.

I've a feeling they aren't going to get many takers at the prices shown below. Grabbing bar stweards

Monthly - Only £4.99 a month
Annually - Only £49.99 per year

This was sudden - it was free the other day.

In fairness to them, hosting a website isn't free, and they don't have the power of the mighty ESPN behind them.

Just checked - you can still access some content via the Yorkshire site (and the stats link on this site), though it looks like only the stuff specific to Yorkshire players and YCCC. So, for example, I can view the information on North Marine Road, but I can't view the County Ground in Northampton. I suppose we could view a lot of it through various cc websites, but it may be a little laborious.

Thanks CA. At least we can get free Yorkshire scores via the web site. And yes if you press on the wrong thing you get the CA payment page even if you'd entered via the YCCC site.

A bummer, as they say in some parts!

But I did access this via Cricinfo

I'm not sure how, except I've got this bookmarked:

Cricket Archive

Just a little more info on the Cricket Archive situation. Cricket Archive and The Cricketer magazine are both owned by a company called TestMatch Extra.com. In 2015, The Cricketer Magazine made a profit of £40,000, and Cricket Archive lost the same amount. Circulation of 'The Cricketer' is below 20,000 at the moment.

Yorkshire CCC will have paid Cricket Archive to host the stats, that is why you can access this information, but not the rest.

Yes, the subs seem pricey, bearing in mind much of the information can be accessed from other sites

Hope this helps

Thanks for that, Alex. I had no idea that stuff was there.

Checking Jack Leaning's figures from that very same link, I note that he has a career FC average of 31, with 3 centuries from 40 matches, which may not be Rootish, but is very respectable.

List A average is 35 with a strike-rate of 86, which is exceptional, I would think.
Likewise his T20 stats, with 29 runs per innings and 134 per 100 balls.

Joe himself in his first 3 seasons (36 FC matches) averaged 38, with 4 centuries.
His List A average up to that time was 35, same as Jack's now.

Even great players need time to learn.
