Will Coad ever beat these figures in his career?

Re-posted from the day 1 thread...

Can I just be the first to say... NLOC?

Not a bad start to your CC career when you beat Patto's career best in your second match. Some of our bowling legends may struggle to get a game this season!

Another wicket this morning, he's still on for the 10-for!

(I realise this risks jinxing him, but that jinx would only mean a wicket for another Yorkshire bowler so I'd still be happy!)

Morning all. Maybe they are saving Coad for second innings although I think we will/should bat again if conditions are good. It would give our top order chance to get some more time in the middle and hopefully give entertainment to Saturday spectators.

Good to see Bresnan among the wickets in early season. Hope the fans will see some quality batting now for the rest of the day. Top three gone and still not 200 ahead - sounds like good batting conditions, so bit disappointing?

Umbrellas being used as parasols in the NE Lower this afternoon. It's April 8th. Just for the record.

Alex Lees seemed to think that hit him high on the pad and was going over.

Leaning seems to feel like he got some bat on that LBW decision.

Game very much alive at the moment, could do with Bresnan coming in slamming the door shut.

Will be interesting to see how long we can hold on to Ballance if he scored two centuries in the opening game of the season. Not long I fear.

I think it will be quite some time before Ballance is considered by England again.

He's young enough to earn another chance surely. If he leads the country in runs he'll almost certainly get another crack. As Captain, does Root get a say in selection? If so that may help his cause.

Must be some time since Bressie got a pair? We need 400 lead to feel comfortable as they have some potentially dangerous batsmen.

400 lead is a long way off with Ballance gone.

Poor batting again. Nothing to suggest that last season's problems have been addressed, Ballance excepted.

Ballance aside, and hopefully Lees and Lyth, this does not appear to be a Championship-challenging batting lineup.

Relax! Our lead is over 300. Hodd is batting well and Patterson is a very good tailender to build partnerships with. If we bat to the close tonight we will be in an excellent position.

WR Metcalfe: I am pretty relaxed about this game, but the issue is whether the batting is good enough to compete in Div 1 this year. Hampshire are weak. Other attacks will be stronger. We have started as last year ended - brittle up top, with Bres and Hodd a place too high in the order.

Hodd's 50 another case of worth more than just the runs. It's when he did and how he's done it too. Stopped the momentum swinging Hampshires's way. 320 should be enough. 350'd be a helluva lot more comfortable.
