On balance I would imagine Warner and Fisher would be the unlucky pair.

There's still the warm-up football to get through of course so anything could yet happen.

Going on the weather forecast alone we should stick them in but I can't see the wicket from here, even if I could I'd be not much the wiser.

This is a huge match for us already. Our bouncebackability has been superb over recent years. This is a big test.

Would go:
Lyth Lees Handscomb Ballance C Leaning Rashid Bresnan Hodd WK Willey Patterson Coad

Having Rashid and Bresnan really sorts out balance out.

It would be incredibly harsh to drop Coad who has bought himself another game at least but I wonder if the best balance of attack available to us would be Bresnan (all round abilities alone pick him), Rashid (spin option), Patterson (control), Willey (left arm) and fisher/warner (extra pace)?

We need to win, but with the "iffy" forecast and a weakened bowling attack, not sure we will. We have lost our last three matches in a row. How many years is it since we lost 4 matches on the bounce??

I think we lost our first game at home to Sussex one year and then didn't lose again for over two years and won two titles. Plus one year we thought Sussex had the title wrapped up in May and they were nearly relegated. Harder this year of course with fewer games but long way to go

Coad strikes again! Willey seems to be leaking runs at the other end though.

Warwickshire are streaming the match on YouTube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7wRhhL1ejYY). If you drag it back to -0.09, you van even sync it with the BBC commentary.

Why don't we do this for home games?

Great to see Coad is amongst the wickets again and we still have Siddy, Brooks and Fisher to come in soon. The problem is with the batting where we need the top five all firing. Inclusion of Root and Bairstow for one match will not be sufficient for the season.

But how many weeks of Coad do we have left before England undermine us again?

Should be "code" which limits number of players ECB can take from any one county 😉 One for Bressie now - come on Patto.

Right on cue Alibor. Patto's 1st of the season. Not found him out then.

If Brooks and Sidebottom become fit who do we drop? Next year of course we won't have that problem when Sidebottom retires. I've been a member of the NLOP club for sometime but with Coad having such a good start to the season we may have some selection issues.

What's the chances they'll all be fit at the same time though?

Good start, but we were well on top for the first half of the Hampshire game too so we've already seen how easily matches can swing in the Championship.

Our lower order batting suddenly looks very strong again with Rashid, Hodd and Willey at 7, 8 and 9 probably all one position below where they would normally bat, and Patto a very decent number 10 these days- emphasis remains on the top 5 to make the bulk of the runs though.

With all seamers fit, we should have Sidebottom, Brooks, Bresnan, Patterson, Willey, Plunkett, Coad and Fisher - great choice!
We also have two excellent spinners and very useful all rounder Rhodes, two experienced openers and an overseas batsman.
If we are not allowed to use Root and Bairstow, our one need is for a top order batsman, preferably who can also keep wicket
