I tend to come from the other direction that we wouldn't be £41 million in debt if it weren't for the ECB

Yes, a fine first over after tea from H-D first producing a snorter to get Ballance and then four more that Bresnan knew little about.
We need these two to steady the ship and get us into a lead and then will need some contributions from the rest, like theirs did.

Can a bowler be removed for persistent obstruction of running batsmen? Clarke is doing his best to obstruct these two methinks! Weather forecast not good for tomorrow - could be wash out, so we should be trying to push the score along this evening session.

Leaning has only himself to blame for being so defensive and not taking advantage of some pretty ordinary pre new ball bowling. He played solid innings but was too slow - he is capable of scoring much quicker but is short of confidence to take the initiative.

Good to see Leaning get a bit of form. More to come I am sure.

102 ahead with 4 wickets left.

Would be great to get up to 150/180.

Let's hope the weather blows through pretty quickly tomorrow and allows at least a full final session and a big chunk of the afternoon.

Decent team batting display so far, pity nobody, so far at least, has gone on to make a really big score.

At the end of the day the weather may beat us, but encouraging signs.

Can we leave the bowling changes to the skipper please, he has the full picture, it's his job and his decision.

Another very good day's cricket. Important for batting morale that nobody failed (I'm taking Justgrazing's view that Adam got a rotten decision). 20s, 30s and a 40 plus a couple of solid half centuries is great way to post nearly 300 for 6. I enjoyed watching it more than if we'd had one star centurion getting us out of jail.

Bit of credit to Warwickshire. They are really under the cosh right now (see Cricinfo report on the day) but they did their best not to let heads droop in the field in the last 90 minutes of a long day. They didn't bowl badly -- Barker and Wright always threatening, even H-D putting in some decent overs, and Patel keeping it reasonably tight. Which means our boys batted well. And the luck was with us today -- a lot of edges flew over the top, some in the weirdest directions.

And of course it was brilliant this morning to see Ben Coad going off once again, pushed to the front by his teammates and showing the ball to the crowd.

Let's hope the rain allows a result.
