What an outstanding win by Lancs & without the pensioner even playing.
Folk may be critical of Giles but he & his team have brought through some youngsters of real quality it seems.
Giles now needs to do the same at Warks.

Bit of a miscalculation from Middlesex I would say.

They were probably right not to enforce the follow-on but with the bowlers at his disposal the Captain should have had the confidence to pull out perhaps 10 overs earlier.

I was told at Old Trafford that the Giles move was marriage saving rather than career enhancing, and that he well knew what he was getting into.

Only a few years ago, the Lancs side was a disgrace, given the amount of league cricket in the county and in neighbouring Cheshire and Cumbria.

But 8 of the XI who beat Somerset came through the Academy/2nd XI, excepting only Jarvis, McLaren and Vilas. Captain Croft is another, absent, and there are some good reserves, too, and a few (Griffiths, Reece and Dearden come to mind) who have had to move to other counties. Nor can Kerrigan get a game.
