Dear old Noddy.
A decent bowler at a time when the clouds of the seventies were beginning to gather. I'm sure he enjoyed his time at Notts more than his period at Yorkshire.
He was a legend in the field. He was the slowest across fifty yards that I've ever seen in professional sport - and all the more beloved because of it! It was Mike Bore who pursued a ball hit neatly by Dudley Owen-Thomas to deep long on at the Oval (early seventies I'd guess). Noddy was left on his own. Greyhounds like Nicholson and Hutton looked on. It was the only all run five I've ever seen in County Cricket. There were no overthrows - it was just Noddy and a ball trundling away into the distance for an eternity. Great fun! It was hard not to find Noddy's comfortable frame extremely appealing.
As a bowler though, he wasn't to be underestimated and enjoyed quite a lot of success over a decent period of time. I'm very sorry to hear of his death. Too young.

Sad news and another gone too young.

Yes I recall Mike as being rotund and pedestrian but a canny bowler who was more Underwood than a Carrillo or a Rocker Robinson of other left armers in that era.

Not quite good enough for the first team if everyone fit and available but useful back up. His move to Notts saw him more successful than those he left behind
