Like the team selected although Rafiq needs a performance to justify selection ahead of Leaning or Rhodes. Good - we bat first.

I'd have gone with Leaning or Lees rather than Rafiq. Hope we don't lose to many early wickets!

Well Sid, Lyth did survive one ball 🙁 And Root gone to Sanderson - should we have played extra batsman!?

18/2 - Really felt that an extra batsman would have been sensible. You wouldn't bet your house on Willey batting for 20 overs, which you are always in danger of asking him to do if he bats too high up the order. Surely with three internationals in our bowling attack, five bowlers plus Root is the better option

Looks like Sanderson has a point to prove, here's hoping Jonny and Handscomb can deliver a big one.

Looks the correct balance of team to me, although would have gone Fisher over Rafiq.

Not a balanced team, needed an extra batsman like leaning, especially without Bresnan.

Not sure.

The worst-balanced one-day sides seem to be those with 4 specialist bowlers + hope to fiddle 10 overs from somewhere else.

Perhaps one bowler too many the other way this time? 5 genuine bowlers, in Willey, Plunkett, Coad + Rashid, Rafiq plus the inexperienced Waite + Root and Lyth.

But, of the 5, Rashid is a genuine batsman, and Willey, Plunkett and Rafiq are certainly useful. Waite is a proven all-rounder at a lower level, and the only way he will improve and develop is by playing.

And now is his chance, as Yorks lose Bairstow as I type; 73 for 4.

We are being strangled here. And I still say that Waite at 6 does not suggest a balanced side - particularly when other options are available to us. 200 looks a long way off, never mind 300 (the new par)

300 would be miles off regardless of who's at 6 when you're 73-4.

Crikey there goes our top order, being completely stifled here.

Seems to me Northamptonshire have prepared a bowler friendly surface in order to negate Yorkshire's international top 5 who would be used to scoring freely on bland pitches.

Anything above 230 may well be a defendable total if our bowlers are right on the money.

Sounds like the ball isn't coming on so not a usual 300+ game. Hopefully our bowling will be smart enough but Levi and Duckett can make a mockery of a smallish total on any pitch

Yes, those of us not there are guessing.

We have a batting line-up in which 3 of the top 5 are current and highly successful Test players, and the other two recent (and possibly future) Test men, too. Against them, Ben Sanderson had a spell of 6-2-15-2.

Matthew Waite now has 29*, which is more than Lyth, Root and Handscomb got between them, further proof that the International boys may be the best players around, but all the others are damn fine players as well, Yorkshire rejects included.

There are no poor players in County Cricket.

We are playing the best side in our group last year (they finished top) and the current T20 Champions. They are a vg whiteball side, although, before today, have not been doing very well this year. 270 could be a winning score, but they do have lots of quick scorers.

Keep the faith - if we can get 250+ then I rather fancy young Coad, Willey and Plunkett and, of course! Rashid to do business.

Showing some excellent resilience here, hopefully we can push on towards a competitive total. We still have Rashid, Plunkett and Willey to come, this could be interesting.
