Re: One-Day Cup | Warwickshire vs Yorkshire at Birmingham (Match Thread)

May 14 2017, 3:10 PM

thanks for the welcome backguys.

i have been lurking most of the season, but didn't really have the time to get into any arguments.

Still not sure if i have forgiven the team for lack of ambition in 3 games last season, when winning any of them would surely have won us the title. But will be in attendance at the scene of the crime, hopefully for all 4 days of this upcoming weekend.

Welcome back Peter. Am rather concerned that we have neither Fisher or Coad to use new ball but hopefully two spinners will get something from pitch. Our total was reasonable but they have batsmen who could get there without taking too many risks,

You're to be concerned at present Alibor, as Warks are cruising along nicely at the mo, defo should have included Coad at least.

As we were saying towards the end of last season, Bressie was doing more as batsmen than bowler and IMHO is not new ball bowler as his length and direction are not reliable. Willet also concerns me with both his bowling and especially with his batting. Young Waite has done really well since he came into the team and we may soon have to rely on our young guns when the busy international season starts. Unless Lyth does something soon we may have to introduce a young batsmen at the top of the order. Rather tells us something when Rashid is on after only 8 overs - I like Ballance as captain as he seems to be prepared to use some imagination. Unfortunately I think we are going to lose this match despite having all of our international stars on the field.

We are making Trott look like a T20 specialist at the moment, Warks bowled with great discipline something we're clearly lacking.

32-1 of 10 overs for Patel with no boundaries. Rashid has gone for 15 of 2 overs with 2 boundaries and a wide already. Both International bowlers, but vastly different figures!! This is getting embarrasing.

Please, please, not 2nd place and a 400 mile trip back from Taunton the day before a match at Headingley.

They're walking it, aren't they? Going to win with 10 overs to spare.

We must be playing on two separate pitches Stu, the only comfort is that Worcs look like they may be heading towards a defeat.

If Worcester do lose, we could still get top place, but we need to beat Leics. 2nd place would be a disaster and 3rd would be better as that would mean an "away" tie to a Southern team, much preferable, for players and supporters, to the 400 mile trip back from Taunton 16 hours before a match at Headingley.

Well young Waite and Rafiq have made inroads but we will need senior bowlers to come to the party if we are going to win this one and Bresnsn does not look like doing anything other than increase the scoring rate! Rather sense some complacency in this game

Unfortunately no pressure on Trott/Bell with their team out of it so they can play against type. I hoped Patel would be joining up with NZ in Ireland.

Bres got some good runs but I would have preferred to stick with Coad in terms of wicket taking.

3 reasonably quick wickets for Rafiq so maybe the fat lady isn't singing quite yet.

I was possibly one of Rafa`s fiercest critics, based on his performances so far this season, but he has been really outstanding today.

Might be worth a look at Root from Rafiq's end when he's bowled out.

Credit to Rafiq and Waite, showing our internationals how it should be done.

Neither Bresnan nor Plunkett look like getting wicket. Do we know why both Fisher and Coad are not playing today? Golden arm is coming on!

Plunkett, Willey and Bresnan have bowled 15 overs between them conceeding 117 runs. In constrast to Waite and Raqiq who have conceeded 59 runs.

Not looking good. Might have scraped through one semi final with a bit of luck and a few outstanding performances but out seconds won't win two knock out games.
