He'd be a great signing, I'd love to see him and DW opening the innings...but is there a link or wishful thinking?

Bit of guess really, heard a rumour we we were aiming for an experienced batter from Australia, he would be available and fits the bill, possibly too well!!!

There must be a good chance of it being Lehmann Jr.....he could also replace Handscomb later in the season

I'd be a little disappointed if we went with Lehmann for the t20. He didn't distinguish himself in the big bash this year and whilst he is undoubtedly a quality player when you have the likes of Chris Lynn available, someone who is genuinely a game changer, it feels a little unambitious.

That said, the financial packages between Lynn and Lehmann are undoubtedly markedly different!

You've probably hit the nail on the head - Lynn might not get on a plane for what Yorkshire are able to offer. Wait and see I suppose.

We do seem infatuated with Australians when it comes to T20. I presume that is where the contacts are and if its somebody of the highest calibre, who is available for the entire competition I'd be happy.

If not, and the Champions Trophy produces a bit of a cult hero from Bangladesh, Sri Lanka or Pakistan, perhaps we could look there for a change.

I would love Lynn too but from what I understand he wouldn't get a visa to play here!

My logic is tenuous on this one re Marsh. He had been playing with Maxwell in the IPL and with Willey at Perth, so there are connections there. Also, add to that his stint as an a young player over at Walsden CC, only just over the border really, so he knows the area, stretching it a bit on that one I know!

Miller or Morris for me, as long as neither are in SA test squad, which I don't think they are.

Good logic to suggest Marsh.

I feel the team will be:

Lyth Willey ? Handscomb WK, Ballance C Leaning Bresnan Plunkett Rashid Rafiq Fisher

Marsh would fit perfectly in at 3.

Out team looks very strong in T20, especially with another overseas potentially batting at 3. The team pretty much picks itself as above; the only potential doubt would be the 4th seamer - reckon any of Fisher, Waite or Coad could have that position. We should have Rashid, Plunkett and Willey for the whole tournament, and it will be tough to pick a team if we have Root and Bairstow available at any point. Form dependent, but at the moment probably Lyth and Leaning would drop out for those two

Must it be an Aussie?

May 29 2017, 8:33 PM

On the subject of non-Aussie targets, my suggestion would be Imad Wasim, liked the look of him for Pakistan last year. Can bat and bowl (spin, possibly the only downside as three spinners would be too many), wouldn't think he'd cost the earth, born in Swansea and a full international so work permit probably not an issue, might add a few to the gates with interest from the local Pakistani community.

The above suggestions of Chris Lynn, Chris Morris, David Miller and Inam Wasim are to play in this years Caribbean Premier League, which runs from 4th August to 9th September. At best those players will be available for 9 Group Stage matches out of 14.

Suppose Yorkshire could sign David Miller as the Twenty20 Overseas signing, then Kane Williamson comes in for the remaining 5 matches and eventually takes over Peter Handscomb as the primary Overseas signing.

I think the original poster may have been on to something...
