"The Club is delighted to confirm the signing of Tom Kohler-Cadore on a three-year deal with immediate effect"

So he's available this season?

Get in. T20 chances on the up.

Unavailable to play against Worcs in 2017. This seems to be the only caveat.

Seems the sensible option to me if Worcs felt unable to play him for the rest of the season.
I can not remember many cricketers who have moved counties mid season before.

So I guess he'll play on Tuesday instead of Lees, but if we win Lees will have to come back in for the Worcestershire game

Does this mean perhaps we're not bringing in another overseas for T20, because it's hard to see how we'd accommodate them. At the moment I'd say we could perhaps play:

Cold or Fisher could play 4th seamer instead of Waite, but regardless that's a scarily strong looking team. Would another overseas really be necessary? And who would drop out for the few occasions we have Barstow and Root available

I'd assume our overseas budget has just been spent.

I'm happy enough without a 2nd overseas player for T20 - the team above looks good and I assume we'll get a game or so from Root and JB.

Oh yeah of course forgot about that!

Perhaps hard to see him playing for us before T20 starts, but he'll become a vital player from then on. For a start, if Ballance goes with England when tests start, you'd think he'd come straight in

The bbc story is here:

Will be very interesting to see how he does. This is as much a signing on potential (and maybe very recent performance) but not on track record you would have to say. I think we all agree that he offers a lot in the short form, but in the longer form, his record is average to date (Lees was streets ahead of him at the same age, and has a much better career average) - Leaning is a similar age I think, and has similar stats. Time will tell but good luck to him.

I agree - he is as good as an overseas signing for the T20 comp

Just back from election-related activities and the following statement from Worcs was in my mailbox:

Very happy with this news looks like someone's thrown their toys out of the pram. Welcome back to Yorkshire, Tom.

George Dobell article on this story. Couple of important parts:

"It is understood he will, initially at least, play in Yorkshire's second XI. He is thought unlikely to be selected in the Yorkshire side for the Royal London Cup play-off."

"It is understood that neither the player or Yorkshire sought an early release from his contract. Indeed, Kohler-Cadmore is understood to be distressed that a happy spell at New Road has ended in sour circumstances. There is no suggestion that Yorkshire in any way acted inappropriately."

Seems like a terrible bit of mis-management on Worcs and Rhodes' part. They could have kept him playing happily for the rest of 2017, but have nuked this entirely through their own actions. Fortunately it will be Yorkshire who reap the benefits.

On how this affects our T20 campaign - if we think we've got enough batting now, then recruit an overseas bowler! We've always struggled with T20 bowling, especially at the death, so bring in a specialist whilst there's an opening.

Can't agree on the overseas bowler. Fisher, Waite, Willey, Plunkett, Bresnan, Rafiq, Rashid/Carver are top T20 bowling options.

We needed another explosive batsman IMO that's now sorted.

I doubt TKC will play much in the CC this season unless he gets big runs for the seconds

KC will replace Ballance once the test matches start in 4 weeks time.

Welcome home Tom.

Hope you don't have to pay back the Malvern fees now.

We now have players who went to Malvern, Harrow, St Peters in York - we are in danger of becoming a team of highly educated posh kids!

Good news. Totally agree with the comments about Worcs' handling of this situation, very odd.

I think it's probably a bit generous to describe Carver and Waite, who in T20 cricket have bowled 30 overs between them in their careers, as great options, but with the three England bowlers likely to be available our attack does look a lot stronger than usual. Willey/ Lyth/ Kohler-Cadmore/ Handscomb/ Ballance/ Bresnan looks a powerful batting line-up too, although I would be tempted to look for an overseas should Ballance be missing due to a Test call-up.

I don't know about posh, but I'd be interested to know what A level results came out of these scholarships before calling them 'highly educated'. I think Harrow were more interested in Gary''s scores than his marks, and this would not be uncommon, even these days.

Excellent news. Good work Moxon.

T20 and One Day look stronger.

Lyth, Willey, Kohler-Cadmore, Handscomb WK, Ballance C, Miller, Bresnan, Plunkett, Rashid, Rafiq, Fisher

That would be my ideal T20 11 with an explosive Miller coming back to add strength to the middle and end of the innings.

One Day:

Lyth, Kohler-Cadmore, Lees, Handscomb WK, Ballance C, Waite, Bresnan, Willey, Plunkett, Rashid, Rafiq

Lyth, Lees, Handscomb, Ballance C, Leaning, Rashid, Bresnan, Hodd WK, Brooks, Coad, Sidebottom.

Brook, TKC and Rhodes batting out for the next batting spot. Depth at last.
