I think we'll still sign an overseas t20 specialist, likely to be Shaun Marsh who will add a lot of experience.

Apologies if covered before, but is anyone else slightly uncomfortable with this? Can anyone remember any similar instances of players moving counties mid season, not including any that were "pushed"? As far as I can remember these things are usually announced towards the end of the season or during the close season. I dare say we may be on less than friendly terms with Worcester now, a club I admire and respect especially with their Yorkshire connections. They'll certainly be up for it when we face them in the T20, and possibly next weekend.

And yes, on the other hand, I know their recruitment of youngsters isn't exactly squeaky clean either.

So far we've signed Shaun Marsh and David Miller on this thread. I think it's more likely that any available money has just gone on Kohler-Cadmore, but I guess we'll see.

What have we done wrong?

We were entitled to approach a player when we did whose contract was coming up for renewal at the end of the season and we went through the right channels.

Worcts had the option of offering him a competitive contract to persuade him to stay but TKC declined. Worcts then act like a spoilt child and throw their toys out the pram and refuse to pick him in 1s or 2s for rest of the season.

That's their choice but they still have to pay him. Normally it's a contracted player who tries to get out of a contract like Mags did with us a few years back but we stuck to our guns and refused to let him go.

Worcts over reaction caused the problem. If I was another of their players looking to renew my contract I would think carefully. Plenty of teams will be sniffing around some of their talented youngsters like Clarke.

And at least Tom can now play some cricket for the rest of the season so he and Yorkshire are beneficiaries of Worcts stubbornness

The trouble with a duck is we don't really learn anything from it.
It's the old problem: "Are you in form?" - "I don't know, I wasn't there long enough to find out."

But you'd have to assume his life has been somewhat disrupted in the last week or two. I wouldn't rush to judgement.

Only asking, but was it him, or his brother, who has played for Driffield for years??

His brother has been a regular in recent years. They both started out at Hornsea before moving on.

I saw TKC's duck at Scarborough - played and missed at off-spinner first ball, then inside-edged one safely about 3rd ball, finally caught behind off medium pacer at other end.

As said, nothing to be learned, could have happened to anyone, but didn't look good in context of centuries by Brook and Thompson, and almost one by Shaw.

We know TCK is a decent player, white ball especially. Whether he is better than Leaning or Rhodes, Waite or Brook or Tattersall is to be determined. I don't think he is, but I've not seen much of him - mostly because Worcestershire didn't use him much in Championship cricket when we played them. But he was young back then, and players do improve.

Jonny Tattersall may be an example of this. He looked the part at Scarborough, stroke for stroke with Harry Brook, up to his dismissal, at which point TKC came in.

Interview with MM during lunch cleared up that TKC is available for selection for all forms of cricket, except the T20 v Worcestershire.

Just getting his feet under the table in the 2nds and will be selected when they think he is ready.

In a perfect pink fluffy world, if Harry Brook comes through with some runs, and TKC gets up to speed quickly we might have some selection headaches.

Looking forward to seeing him again tomorrow at York, along with Tattersall and (perhaps?) Rhodes and Leaning, Rafiq and Carver. Jordan Thompson is good to watch, too, a graceful left-hander.

[I saw a good day's cricket played by (mostly) foreigners at Old Trafford today. The worst aspect was Lancashire's over-rate; I left at scheduled close, 6 pm, with 14 overs still to be bowled. Champagne moment was a beamer bowled by Jordan Clark which cleaned up Kyle Abbott. May prove to have been unwise!]

Nice to see him get a big ton. Back to spellings, does he have an "e" on the end. Yccc Twitter seem to have dropped it.

I would have been more impressed if we had signed Stephen Rhodes as Director of Cricket/Chief Coach and not Andrew Gale.
