RLODC Yorks v Surrey pre-match thread

No news yet on Tims availability for tomorrow, he may still be on Paternity leave, or on Ben`s injury.

A win today will boost confidence as it could be more or less the same team tomorrow.

If no Tim and Ben, why not play Brooks or Siddy, just as a one-off. Neither of them usually play white ball cricket but with potentially 7 of our best 50 over players missing, IMO, worth it just for once.

Might Harry Brook get a game?

Lyth, Brook, Lees, Hanscomb, Ballance, Leaning, Waite, Rhodes, Rafig/Carver, Brooks/Siddy, Fisher. Lyth as extra spinner.

nicely put.
It seems a bit disappointing that members have to pay for entry tomorrow - or am i wrong..?
Surely this game could have been included as part of our subscription....especially when its the only game at Headingley for 24 days...

Which makes it even more ridiculous that they're making members pay - why should members pay an extra £16 when we can see it on TV for (comparatively) nothing..?
Don't they want anyone there...?

£10 for members. But agreed still should be part of the package.

As a student with a very tight budget I also assumed this would come in with my £25 membership.

Agree re the charges, especially as we get 4 days less cricket this year for the same priced membership as last year.

The bottomline is - Members are now season ticket holders and YCC is run as a business to make as much profit as they can. What is good for members or what they want, is at the very bottom of their list of priorities.

I was surprised the club charging members £10 for tomorrows game.
Somerset are charging members £20 for there QF tomorrow.

Given the way in which the preliminary round of the competition has been blocked, so that matches are crushed together into a May window, I'm unsurprised by the requirement to charge for the later rounds.
The ECB have little invested in the future of this competition, other than as a knock-out event.
Attendances are already down on last year; the quarter and semi-finals are likely, also, to be sparsely attended - all of which contributes to the case being made for the future pattern of cricket in England and Wales.

Hugely enjoyable as 50 overs cricket is, like the County Championship, it will be regarded as ancillary to the new 20/20 competition. All eggs are nestling in that basket, I'm afraid.

Likewise. Even it had been free entrance for members I would have watched on Sky.

RLODC Yorks vs Surrey

Keith, it is only £5 for students; likewise for retired members.
I shall be there although it looks as if I shall be providing a one man crowd !
I shall, however, be avoiding the food in the long room and cricket school which was almost inedible at the last match.
As well as myself, a former Yorkshire player was also complaining about the quality of the meal.

Let's ask for Bairstow back if Morgan's clearly not going to play him.

I'll be there with you JollyD - although it just feels a bit niggardly to make us pay for it..

I fully expect ROY to be dropped and some injury concocted and then turn up and open for Surrey tomorrow.....

I will be there tomorrow. Only a fiver. I can remember people complaining about a shortage of cricket at headingley and then refusing to go.
