Cooler day which will work in their favour when they come on to bowl and the road becomes a minefield with Toblerone and Finn both wanting to show the England selectors what they are missing. Both get in the ODI squad, don't get any cricket and then get overlooked in favour of others like the Overtons and Currans. Odd....

I am on my way to Lords from SW London. Theres a welcome breeze but the forecast doesn't look that different to yesterday.
Hoping for a quick brace if wickets and keeping them sub 400 with us on 250 by the end of the day...

A bit of heat training will do everybody good and help to prepare for flaming Scarborough!

Expecting a tough day today as both teams search for any advantage.

It might well be that by the end of the day both teams will be well on the way to a mental stalemate and the match loses intensity.

Middlesex have a good attack . We have 2 openers out of form , a lad on debut and Rashid at 6 who has barely played a FC innings this season . And we are talking of making 500 ! Who said this was a pessimistic forum ?

On the other hand, Lyth made a ton the game before last (so is he out of form - not sure?). Ballance is second in the national averages (behind our very own Jack Brooks!). Handscombe is doing well - averaging mid 40s. Hodd is possibly batting as well as he ever has done for us. They are all reasons to be positive I would have thought!

Cool-ish with light hazy cloud, forecast to clear. Better for us if it doesn't!
We shall see. No queue to get in.

Hopefully we can rattle through a few wickets this morning and keep the score down. A bit cloudy first thing in south London, but supposed to be brighter and getting sunny later on.

If we can get this so it looks like there could be a positive result on Thursday I might be able to swing getting the day off to go along and watch

Coad replaces a loose Brooks and gets Robson , caught behind well, off his third very fast ball!

Well done young Coad. If only we had trusted him to share new ball yesterday with Siddy we could be batting by now! He has produced in all the previous matches and should have been given first chance in this match, in my opinion. Brooks is useful but not particularly a bowler who gets much movement with a new ball. We should have Rashid bowling soon at one end with the seamers rotating at the other, when Coad finishes his spell.

Coad again, very fast: sends rookie Higgins's off stump flying!

Middlesex looking likely to fail to get a fifth batting point - pretty poor effort from the position they are in you would think

Thoughtful, tight overs from Coad and Patto frustrate Middx's hopes of batting BP #5

These things may matter

Lords is looking truly lovely today.

A minor victory for us, we have restricted them to only 4 batting points.

Still lots of work to do. 500 still on the cards for them.

Scoreboard pressure and 4 sessions (maybe more) in the field in the baking sun, and it will be very difficult to even get a draw.

Stu - are you employing reverse psychology like Egham or are you genuinely miserable about the situation? 😉

Following Egham`s lead, but being realistic, a win for us is a very long way away!!

Simpson always seems to score runs against us.
Not being at the ground I'm finding their tactics somewhat negative, surely a 5th batting bonus point was there for the taking?
TRJ on one from 22 balls.
Can you imagine the outrage from some posters on here if that had been a Yorks batter?

Sixteen runs in the last 10 overs - they are batting themselves out of the game at this rate!

As I said, Patto and Coad kept it really tight in the final half- dozen. You miss/ I hit. Just one 4 off Coad. Middx wanted to go for it but weren't prepared to sacrifice a wicket or two. Their call.

Adil is on and asking questions
