Well that escalated quickly.

Arguably our two best batsmen in now but short of a 250 partnership from these two there's no way out of this. Maybe we should switch our hopes to taking it into a fourth day to make it a little less embarrasing? Or atleast avoid an innings defeat.

Don`t worry lads, 450 partnership coming up now!!! (slipping into SteveC mode - sorry Steve).

Seriously Steve -- I really hope it does not mean you have to cancel your day at Lords tomorrow.

Without our test players, we are not championship material and I fear after Ballance is taken from us, our season will disintegrate 😔

Awful stuff, our top order frailties are yet again exposed, this can no longer be paved over with sentiment. This has been a consistent pattern for far too long and really needs addressing

Championship | Middlesex vs Yorkshire at Lord's (Day Three)

June 21 2017, 12:27 PM

The last time Yorkshire were relegated there were some major repercussions for the majority of the coaching staff. Am not saying we will be relegated, but there's been problems with our batting for over 2 seasons, despite winning the CC in the first season of problems, which were usually masked by late order runs or stand out performances of one batsmen.

Something has to be done. Have players become too comfortable with their place in the team due to an apparent lack of competition? Players called up from the second team appear to have done a lot better than expected, maybe more should be given a chance?

If we'd had all our bowlers fit at the start of the season, would Coad have been given his opportunity? If not, we really would be in a relegation fight.

Can England not just leave Ballance for the next series? They'll only drop him if he doesn't make a score in his first few innings and then he'll be back next year with a loss of confidence. Give him a full season.

Just watched the 3 dismissals on the Beeb feed. Lyth and Lees were out playing orthodox defensive shots to good deliveries; the Lees one in particular was a cracker. Brook was out flashing at a high and wide one. Forgivable on debut - he'll learn!

I have just got up and was a little bit shocked at seeing Yorkshire 16-3. Yes Middlesex will probably win, but this is a game where anything can happen. Yorks first target is to try and avoid an innings defeat. If was get a small lead of say 120 then who knows?
