Imperious. Open, bat 3, keep wicket..... Whatever he's asked to do he delivers.

With 3 keepers in the side, can any one explain why the worst of the three technically kept wicket?

Brilliant performance by England, but SA were rubbish in all 3 facets of the game.

He didn't technically keep wicket, he actually kept wicket! 😉

Pity he is not playing in an era when the whole country can watch him. Special player.

Did somebody forget to tell South Africa it was only 20 overs each!

Crane and Dawson showed up well, wonder how they will go with short boundaries at Taunton and Cardiff.

2nd T20 v SA

Quite an exciting game which England managed to lose.

England picked a weaker team than for the first match and SA a stronger one so I suppose the outcome was predictable.

Decider on Sunday.

For all the hype around him from the Lankies, Livingstone looked well out of his depth. England completely lost their momentum when he came in.

He didn't look up to much in the RL cup match against Lancs earlier this year. Rashid had him under his spell as I recall, and on this evidence he doesn't have a lot of answers to serious pace either.

Any reactions to the Roy dismissal? Verdict looked fair enough to me. He did a major swerve and actually ran further than if he'd stayed the other side of the stumps.

It appeared that he looked at the fielder and then deliberately changed sides in order to put himself between the fielder and the wicket.

Whether that was on his mind or not I don't think the TV umpire could have given any other decision.

Good debut by Tom Curran, poor stuff from Liam Livingstone.

As everyone has been promised a game a debut on his own ground for Craig Overton would have been a decent gesture.

He'll make his England debut at Cardiff now which isn't the same.

Roy's dismissal was fair - he took such a large detour that he had to pay to get back in the ground. Exciting game, Tom Curran was very impressive.

Agree ROY deliberately moved from one side of the pitch to the other to get in line of the ball so perfectly correct to be given out. Stokes tried this a year ago too. Players get coached to run between the fielder and the stumps but here he moved across clearly.

Bigger puzzle for me is how Dawson is sent in at the end above Willey, Plunkett and even Curran when a couple of meaty blows in last two overs could have made the difference.

England were complacent with team selection and then with run chase and got their due reward. The seam bowling was weaker than usual and moving Livingstone up the order after Bairstwo was out was a big mistake. Roy and Bairstow batted brilliantly but left hander Morgan should have gone in to break up the bowlers rhythm. Certainly six hitter Plunkett was needed before Dawson.

Pretty clear to me that there has been a gentleman's agreement not field the strongest teams. Otherwise why haven't they played number one ranked Tahir?

To some extent it's a fine line between giving new players a chance and playing all out to win. You could argue that we would learn nowt about Livingston and Dawson unless they are given a chance to show their ability. But that's the lions role not the full test team

Agree about the fine line. Perhaps it's the fine line between a serious cricket contest between two well matched teams and a bit of sporting entertainment.

Perhaps it's the venues, certainly it's the players who have been left out, but this series does not look like serious cricket.

Test matches soon, hopefully they will pick the best players for that.

Geoffrey Boycott used to change sides whilst running nearly every time! He would have to rethink under the current law, but he also used to run on the pitch, which was against the law then, as now.

Felt sorry for Livingstone. In supreme form for Lancs early season, but had scarcely made a run for weeks when they pick him for England. Brilliant fieldsman, too, but his confidence is so low he dropped a dolly.

Jason Roy looks even worse making runs than he did when not making them.

"Jason Roy looks even worse making runs than he did when not making them."

I couldn't agree more! What a really ugly technique he has. And, once again, he has failed this afternoon - despite getting a life before he had even scored a run!

I noted Alec "Cyclops" Stewart tweeting the following after Roy's innings on Friday:

"Well batted @JasonRoy20 Back doing what he does best. Let's not forget "form is temporary, class is permanent" 👍👏"

and

"Was there 100% proof that Jason Roy obstructed the field on purpose? On field umpire gave soft decision of not out? #controversial"

Poor Alec - a fine wicketkeeper/batsman, but evidently not the brightest bulb in the box!
