Still no news on the Bresnan family addition, so I assume no Tim today and Patto will replace him.

I also assume Brook will be Gary`s replacement for the last two days.

Gary captain for the first two days, Joe for the last two days?

Poor weather forecast after today with rain expected on the last 3 days, so can not see anything else than a draw.

Hope the poor weather stays away.

My interpretation of the detailed forecast is that Leeds will either get a soaking over a couple of days or mainly get away with it. Time will tell.

We have the game on paper, and with the hoped for injection of positive intent from Root and Bairstow, really looking forward to this one.

Going by the current weather most matches are going to get an interruption at some point. Usually half the battle with the rain is the bad light that comes with it, presumably being a day/night match that won't be a problem here. Nothing would suprise me though...

Bres Patto and Brooks back with Siddy rested.

Brook on standby as supersub for Ballance I presume

Surrey won toss and batting

Ithought sky might have shown one of the day/night matches.
Obviously sky are not interested in proper cricket.

"Siddy rested".

And *that's* why we should have selected Plunkett if he was available.

Rested......?

Are they mad?
He's still our best bowler and this is a game we need to win.

Must be an injury niggle surely? But for me, this then means that our attack looks samey - if Willey isn't considered as a like for like replacement, I would have brought Plunkett in for Sidebottom - given that he is back to bowling 90 mph plus deliveries. Strange one.

Plunkett also playing for Lions I believe

What's wrong with Brooks this year - 5 wickets @ 61 in CC this year , now just bowled 3 overs at 7 a piece ? Not surprised captain has taken him off

First blood for Highway, and the dangerous Stoneman gone

Recall that Tim Bresnan is on 499 first class wickets.

With Surrey on 105-2 at lunch and Sangakkara to come, the Tykes will need some quick wickets after lunch. If Surrey do put up a big score, we face the absurd ECB-induced prospect of Gary Ballance having only an abbreviated opportunity to bat tomorrow. I can see the headline now: "Ballance 50 not out, off to play with the Lions."

After lunch? Shouldn't they refer to the breaks in play as tea and supper?

Neither Bresnan or Brooks have been very successful this season - surely Rashid should be given a go soon before this partnership gets too established? Also we need to shift Sangakkara early or lwe will be facing another 500 first innings. Indeed this is looking like a proverbial cricket score looming.
