Might get an hour in the early afternoon. Next two days look like a washout. May be the best outcome for us.

Yes -- no way we can win it, but would be nice if we had time to get some batting bonus points. However, looking at the forecast, I doubt there will be even time for that.

The forecast is clearly for a dry afternoon. The problem is the tardiness of our groundstaff in preparing the ground after the briefest of showers could prevent play for hours. Haven't we just spent another fortune on drainage to make sure the ground is playable after rain?

there was some novelty value sitting shivering watching championship cricket at 9pm yesterday, and it clearly kept spirits up amongst the diehards. By 9pm tonight i expect that novelty will have worn off.Predict some good old Yorkshire members moans....and much love offered up to the ECB.
Of course a really good knock from one of our England boys could just help.

The forecast has changed to a dry if cloudy afternoon, indeed.

If it was the usual finish time you would say no play but I guess a later finish means it's just about possible but very wet isn't it!

Anyone in Leeds for a weather report. Heaving down in York, and the Weather radar looks similar in Leeds.

Currently spitting in Leeds. Grey and overcast. However, I presume that light is no longer a consideration, so if the spitting ceases it will all be down to the interaction between Kettleborough, Mallender and Fogerty.

Rain Radar shows heavy rain for another 2 hrs yet in Leeds & 83% chance of rain at 2pm, but thanks for the info.

Not setting of yet from York as it still looks a very dodgy forecast and heaving it down here.

If we were to lose a wicket with something like six overs left to play tonight with Ballance to come in next what happens? Do we send Brook in? Do we get that choice or is the sub only agreed before play starts on that day?

I suppose if history is anything to go by we'll send a nightwatchmen in and lose a further two wickets.

If Gary wants some practice with the pink ball, he maybe needs to open or bat at 3 (not much difference time wise with our first two). Assuming a late start, then we have to get the last 4 Surrey wickets, which could take another 2 hours. He might end up with only an hour or so left when we start our innings. Gary would not get a bat if he remained at nr 5 on the scorecard.

The forecast is now showing rain till 3pm? Then roughly 2 hrs to clear up. 5 pm start possible? 64 overs?

I've just walked in. Full set of covers in place. But, only very light rain falling. No mopping/clearing up going on as yet.
1250.
