It's being said here at Headingley.

Cricinfo is saying "no play before tea": does that mean the second, shorter interval which takes place around 6.40 PM, or does it mean normal tea interval time of around 3.40 PM (or 32 overs to go)?

I'd assumed the former. Do the intervals in day/night have formal names?

I have seen reports on twitter of day night county games calling the intervals Tea and Supper.

I assume it to mean 4pm, the time of the first scheduled break.

I will get there for 4 pm and see what happens then.

Championship | Yorkshire vs Surrey at Leeds (Day Two)

June 27 2017, 3:28 PM

The intervals were called "lunch" and "tea" (in that order) yesterday, as far as I recall. I've heard it said that they would be better called "tea" and "dinner", respectively, and have their durations reversed. The latter suggestion came from Australia, so perhaps the terminology wouldn't work over here, particularly in Yorkshire and the North generally.

Indeed, the back of yesterday's scorecard says that, as an exception for the Surrey match, lunch is from 4.00 pm to 4.40 pm and tea from 6.40 pm to 7.00 pm, the latter in the event being taken when 32 overs remained, in accordance with normal CC practice.

Is 9.30 pm the latest possible close of play time for today, does anyone know?

Cricinfo is now telling us there'll be an inspection at 4 pm so it seems that, when it said "tea" earlier, it meant "lunch" (which starts at 4 pm). Confusing.

Cricinfo says play to start at 17:00. You've got to think, given the forecast, that Surrey would declare at 400 and try to get themselves some bowling points before the curtain finally comes down on this game?

They'll declare after 110 overs. You're pretty much not allowed to do so before if it's cutting out potential bowling bonus points.

EDIT

or they'll decide to needlessly continue battering us around the park

Hmmm....hard to fathom Surrey tactics from Western Canada, but surely they would want to get our batsmen under pressure as soon as?
