So how come Hants declared with the score at 211-9 last night?

According to Cricinfo the last 19 overs have gone for 65. Things aren't looking good

Hants were OK to declare as they didn't deprive Somerset of any potential bonus points.

Still plenty of time for another innings defeat even if tomorrow is washed out.

Come on kads!

Another bad day at the office. Hopefully, our openers can break out and put on a large stand and our England "loaners" can do something special - especially given that we are losing Ballance at the end of the day.

Fanship and wishing and hoping aside, our team appears to be in a downward cycle. A loss and we would certainly be well out of Championship contention. Even seven-point draw will see us tumble down the table.

Does anyone know why Sids is not in the side? Was he rested, or did he have a niggle?

I think it was inevitable that our failings would eventually catch up with us. We've masked it some exceptional individual performances in the past but we are looking increasingly vulnerable.

Lyth clearly told by ECB to get out early so the England trio can have a bat against the pink ball. Does Ballance come in next to make sure he gets a go against the pink ball?

Hoping for some slightly better weather on Thursday so we can collect some batting points while giving Surrey a bit of a run around.

Yorkshire need a bit of sea air I think to blow the cobwebs away.

"Does anyone know why Sids is not in the side? Was he rested, or did he have a niggle?"

I can tell you that in response to the same question at the Members Forum Meeting before play today, Martyn Moxon explained that Ryan had trained with the team on Sunday, but on Monday had reported that in view of the heavy duties required of him at Taunton and Lord's in the last two games, he felt "under-cooked" (Martyn's words) for this game against Surrey. Consequently, it had been decided to rest him for this game in the hope that this would allow him to recover fully in preparation for the up-coming game at Scarborough.

With a 39 year old pace bowler, I guess, this type of consideration is always going to be an issue.

With regard to Championship ambitions, my opinion, for what it is worth, is that they are now unrealistic for this season.

Finally, just as we were leaving the ground tonight we heard that Will Rhodes has transferred to Warwickshire on a permanent basis.

In summary, there are an awful lot of issues/loose strings with YCCC at present.
