On the day four Surrey thread a comment is made that after today we only have 8 days of proper cricket to enjoy at Leeds from the end of June until the end of the season.

How does this compare with halcyon days past?

10 years ago (2007) 3 games therefore max 12 days

20 years ago (1997) 3 games therefore max 12 days

30 years ago (1987) 3 games but these were 3 day games so max of 9

40 years ago (1977) 1 game therefore only 3 days

Amazingly 40 years ago we had 7 three-day home games during July, Aug and Set, these were; Somerset at Harrogate, Warks - Bradford, Middlesex - Sheffield, Hampshire - Leeds, Lancashire - Bradford, Essex - Middlesboro and Derbyshire - Scarborough.

Not quite as expected. Headingley is home is a recent thing. We need to lament the lack of cricket, not the lack of cricket in Leeds.

Quite so! We could also lament the absence of first class cricket anywhere in South Yorkshire.
