Quite an over from Coad, unsure how fortuitous some of those boundaries were?

Well we do have the best spin bowler in England who could be used but maybe Bresnan has inherited Gale's method of first exhausting the seamers before giving him a bowl! That did the trick, Plunkett removes the dangerous Davies - well done!

At 110-5 it's hard to argue with the skippers choice of bowlers

seem to be letting them off the hook here

difficult to rate the score until we have batted with our vulnerable batting

good recovery from 30 for 3

Harry has proved his Worth with four overs for 11.
Clearly Bres is worried that Adil will prove too expensive.

(Did his tardy child ever arrive...?)

Yes, Brook must be bowling tidily but would prefer to see us trying to finish them off with Adil at one end and main seamer at other. Adil has now made the break through and hopefully will finish them off quickly so we get reasonable number of overs this evening.

I like that captaincy from Brez.

Having Brook hold the fort and allow the quicks to get their breath back after working harder to cover for Sidey. The as soon as Rash tweaks a wicket out, bring back Plunkers for a burst before tea.

Credit to Brook himself for some good control. 26 dots in 5 overs helps build the pressure on the batsmen.

We'd all prefer a frpnt line seamer at one end with Rash but Sidebottom can't bowl. Next best thing is a tidy spell from a fill in to give the seamers a rest. Very sensible captaincy in my opinion.

1 to go. Hopefully we can get this wrapped up quickly. Hard to judge until we've batted but based on the fact that they chose to bat it seems like a very good performance so far, especially without Ryan.

What is going, on Groenewald takes 26 from a Rashid over? I remember last year we threw away a game against Middlesex at Scarborough, letting 2 bowlers score easy runs early on the final morning and then getting bowled out. That, for me anyway, ultimately cost us the title.

Let's hope we sort the current free-scoring issue out tout de suite.

207-9 just after tea was good but slogger can always do damage. Unless Rashid was bowling rubbish, he did well until then? We would probably have settled for getting them out for this score when they elected to bat. Now our batsmen really need to produce.
Lyth fails yet again 🙁

Oh for a big opening partnership, to take the pressure off what is an experimental batting lineup. That last wicket partnership was was a potentail killer, although with our best at the death bowler sidelined and Rashid bleeding runs, it was orobably inevitable. 50-0 at the close would be terrific.
