The ECB strikes again. Brook was been appointed captain for a 5 match One Day Series. The result is that he will miss the 2nd Scarborough match against Essex.

At this rate anyone turning up with kit will get a game

From cricinfo

"......The squad will be captained by Yorkshire's Harry Brook, who takes over the leadership from Max Holden - a player not eligible for the World Cup - after the two four-day matches. The selectors decided not to consider the Surrey pair of Sam Curran and Ollie Pope, Yorkshire's Matt Fisher, and Delray Rawlins of Sussex because they have become established for the county sides....

Harry Brook has played 2 CC matches, but is not an established first team player, Matthew Fisher has played zero CC matches, but is an established first team player.

Confirmation that the ECB have not got a clue!!

Stu, The series mainly clashes with alot of T20 blast. Which Fisher will likely be part of most squads. Brook won't.

As promising as Brook is, nobody could seriously argue he's an established first team player.

Brook i don't think has played any one day stuff, whereas fisher has played a fair especially in the last season or so. He's very much part of the squad.

England U19 v India U19 Test

Scores of 17 and 9 by Brook in a match in which England are getting a serious drubbing.

Need quite a serious rain dance on the final day to prevent a heavy defeat.

I was at Chesterfield on day 2 when India advanced from 380 - 6 overnight to 519ao and England replied with 160- 4.

This is deceptive. By the end of the India innings the pitch was showing clear signs of uneven bounce especially from the Pavilion end. The conversation was all about the follow on and no-one near me seemed to think England had much chance of saving it.

Brook got one that stayed very low and spectacularly up rooted a couple of stumps. Only complaint was that it almost happened the previous ball and he only survived as it wasn't straight. Having seen that he had to look to go forward, but again he was hanging back, although to be honest, the ball would probably have had all but the very best, or very lucky, bowled or LBW.
