Another fascinating day in prospect. The first session especially should either put us on the front or back foot for the rest of the match.

Weather looks as per the forecast so hopefully a full day with a few catch up overs.

Stopped raining late last night, grey but with a decent drying wind at the moment, feels fresh and can't imagine any delay in getting started.

Just clicked on the link to the photos from the 1930s and it's like time stood still for the next 90 years!

Pavilion hardly changed, terraced b&bs with views of the ground remain, big crowds and the imposing figure of Bill Bowes who I used to see there in the 1970s still watching the matches at the festival.

Some nice film of the old days at Scarborough on in the Museum tent.

Just arrived at the family flat facing North bay at the front and the cricket ground at the back. Hopefully Plunkett will tee off and get us near their total.

lead of 70 is more than you would like - if we can add another 30, we are within spitting distance.

Despite all the doom and gloom, if Bresnan had taken that slip catch yesterday, we'd now be ahead.

But he didn't! And we aren't!

Well done to Rashid and the tail.

He didn't though did he, 5 batting bonus points in the last 4 completed innings is pretty gloomy stuff however you want to look at it

I reckon Somerset only need another 30 to be sure of victory.

Sorry to be a doom-monger but our batting inspires no confidence whatsoever.

At least we can take a crumb of comfort from that non-event dewsburian. However it's still very much all to play for.

And if their last pair had not attacked Rashid so well we'd be in a stronger position. Surely they should have bowled Leach so we could reciprocate?

Missing Sid may be more hurtful today than first innings.

Did quite well to get to 213. Batting not easy. Somerset played and missed about 30 times before lunch. One edge that fell short was only time they got a touch. Things not going our way. Most of 36 runs down to third man.

Looking ominous again. If we lose this one, a shake up is required for the next CC match.

In this match we have a batsman on debut and another playing only his second game. What kind of 'shake up' did you have in mind? (Apart from sacking Gale and bowling Rashid unchanged throughout, which obviously go without saying wink.gif )

We've had a lot of enforced shake-ups already this season, which I suspect is part of the problem.

Such as Alibor?

The batting options not in the team are Marsh (only if Handscomb dropped), Leaning (tried already and only one knock of note) and Tattersall (we already have two new boys playing).

The middle order are not getting runs but one is skipper, the other a keeper and another the teams spin bowler.

The seam attack has been relatively ok but Siddy clearly will be replaced by Brooks or Patto next time.

Changes are needed but in approach, decision making, tactics and luck rather than selection safly
