Got to love Rafa. Drops Hales then gets him first ball. Always up for the fight, never goes missing.

Wow this must be a first...... Vertually no negative comments on Yorkshires batting. Not even from all the people who have spent days raving about this run machine tkc. Oh wait he scored how many????..

Perfect performance and a good crowd pleasing game with Notts getting a few runs too, but never too threatening.

Surprised Bresnan hasn't bought Waite into the game yet.

Think England did us a favour for a change in preferring stodgy Dawson to Rashid! And well done reliable Patto.

Fantastic result and a much needed tonic.

With that score on the board, you will win most games. Hopefully this will galvanise the team for tomorrow.

According to the twitter account tonight's our record attendance for a non roses t20 match. Good job they're getting rid of this stale old competition, it's obvious nobody's interested.

I would love to see the new competition played out in front of empty stands, while the tired old county tournament continues to pull in the crowds. Knowing the ECB they'll see this potential embarrassment and relinquish their promise to keep the county tournament running.

How good was that! Felt like Yorkshire got their runs at a canter. As someone says, the perect template for getting a high score in a T20 game. Get ahead early on, score quickly but calculatedly for 10 overs then have a real push in the final five. And how good was Rashid. Hales looked to be batting on a different wicket, but nobody else in the Notts line up looked capable of sustaining such a scoring rate. Has to be said that ours is a very strong line up on paper, even without Plunkett. We bat deep and have bowling options.

As one who has been critical of our championship performance, this was a great performance tonight on both sides of the game. But it is a 20 over thrash, so we have to be realistic, there are two, if not 3, different styles of game going on and, so far, the negative comments this season have been about the 4 day format, which for some of us is the pinnacle of the game. We can be appreciative of a performance such as tonight but that does not detract at all the validity of the concerns re the 4 day game. But guess what, in the BBC report tonight of our performance they note we have only made two finals in this competition since 2003 and they call us perennial underachievers so perhaps performance wise we have even more to gripe about in T20 than the CC, or maybe we collectively choose to ignore this as the championship is what YCC is about and hence the concerns??? Whatever great crowd, great result but our 4 day form is of huge concern.

What a way to start the season, I honestly don't think I'd put the England lads back in after that. T20 winners tend to have a settled team and last year's semi final debacle strengthens the argument.

Either way, great to see every batsman contribute meaningfully no matter how short their innings. Lyth and Leaning seemed different players tonight and I hope the way they looked to play stays with them.

Finally, the crowd shows that there is a valued product in the t20 blast, something the ecb should bear in mind when constricting their new competition.

Well, we all enjoyed that. Lyth with the bat and Adil with the ball were the stand out players, but pretty much everyone contributed. For a short while Hales looked as if he might turn over an impossible target all on his own, but Rafiq got that sorted (after a spectacular drop).

Of course the 4 day game is in a league of its own for the deepest joys that cricket brings, but I have to say I'd miss T20 now if it was taken away. (The one-day game doesn't cut it for me -- "it's 'neither one damn thing nor the other", as Churchill said of the unfortunately named MP Mr Bossom.)

The atmosphere was good, and there were real smiles on the children's faces about the many gimmicks (Vinnie the Viking high-fiving them, inflatable dinosaur to push around, instagram selfies etc. etc). And lots were thrilled to get Ben Coad's autograph. I think there's room in the cricketing universe for all that stuff, and the flares, and the music and the Dance cams and Kiss cams. And from where I sat at the edge of the Trueman enclosure, the Western Terrace seemed to have a lot more kids than beer-swilling yobs.

A convert. Maybe just because Yorkshire did so well. I admit I wasn't so keen after the Leicestershire game last season!

Team must have been brilliantly coached by Gale and Pyrah. Excellent signings of t20 specialists. Well done.

Thumping win, clearly very liberating for some of the batsmen. Marsh is the real deal in this format.

Neither one thing nor the other was also what John Arlott said about the New Zealand pace bowler Bob Cunis.

Yes always good to see Yorkshire win. Nothing beats winning a CC match but this was satisfying and heartening all the same. One small gripe I would have is that the fielding was again below standard.

Hoping that the month before the next CC game allows players to enjoy some t20 and play with freedom and no pressure so when they return for scarbados on 6th August they are refreshed for the next cc match. Nice to see how some of the players not in the CC do and whether they can perhaps bring this to the four day arena. Marsh instead of Handscomb?
