Ryan Gibson finished.

I seem to recall that Gareth Batty and A.N. Other were dispensed with, in similar circumstances, and similar stages of their careers at Yorkshire about 20 years ago.

Consistent at least, but Yorkshire have chosen to be more lenient when our current coach was involved in incidents with umpires and opposition players.

as a retired umpire i do not condone players having verbal altercations with umpires, but this smacks of double standards. Andrew Gale himself was suspended for exactly the same crime, and he was not sacked.

I can only assume he was being released anyway. He made his debut in 2013 and is no nearer to a first team place than he was then.

Gibson is an employee of YCCC, the only way they could sack him would be to go through a disciplinary procedure, and find he committed gross misconduct. He could dispute the allegations and also cite the treatment of Gale. All that will take time
The club could release him but they would still have to pay up his contract.
Bearing in mind the season has only 6-8 weeks to go the club may have decided its easiest simply not to offer him a new contract.
