Good contest

August 3 2017, 8:10 AM

Should be a good contest tonight with hopefully Yorkshire overturning the result from Chesterfield and getting us within sight of qualification.

They have their specialist T20 coach but we have the better team, at least I hope we do.

Showery day hopefully improving into a decent evening according to my forecast.

Looking forward to it.

This should be my belated first home T20 of the season. The only T20 match I've attended so far was the Roses away game, so I'm praying for better weather than that!

It will also be my first T20 of the season, JG, so that should add two to the gate.

A good start, won the toss and will bat first. Looks like we'll get a full game in too.

80-2 off 8.4 with Willey gone to Tahir. Id be happy with 10 runs and no wickets off his last 2.

That may be enough. Yorkshire never really looked totally fluent- it doesn't look like a 200+ pitch as we've had in previous matches. Pace off, both from the spinners and the many slower balls Derbyshire bowled, proved effective; it may come down to Rashid & Rafiq's overs.

Pretty good score if we bowl well, especially in first 6 overs. Impressive debut by our new overseas signing.

Godleman unbelievably flukey but Derbyshire are strolling this at the moment...

We are in danger of losing again because our bowling order is too predictable and stereotyped. We bowled Willey for 3 expensive wicketless overs and look like bowling Rafiq alongside Rashid for full quota of middle overs without breaking key partnership - we need a wicket this over - come on Adil. Madsen problem - yet again

Derby will stroll this, our attacks looks pretty mediocre and predictable.

If Madsen is in at the end Derbyshire are winning this.

Two games in a row where we've looked dead and buried, got back into it then chucked it away again.

Back down with the pack now. Wouldn't surprised me if we missed out altogether never mind home quarter finals.

Yet another defeat, I can see us gradually slipping down the table and not even qualifying.

Yep looks like we are in danger of not qualifying . Disastrous season on cards here with a probable relegation battle in CC and no silverware again.

Poor captain / coach / something else - what is going on ??

After they got away to flier, they were always in control batting second and knowing the target. We lost this game because our strategy was poor, probably pre determined off the pitch, especially the stereotyped use of our bowlers. Time for urgent rethink overdue eg about winning toss and batting? We will now struggle to make next stage. Hoping for better things at Scarborough. We are missing a dynamic captain and need new coach.

T20 vs Multiday Games

August 3 2017, 9:45 PM

Well after the result tonight one has to reflect on the current amazing situation in the tables. Derbyshire lead the North/Midlands table and Glamorgan lead the Southern table. Both sides in the County matches are in the bottom half of the second division and have not seen the higher league for a very long time.
Whatever T20 is it has absolutely no relationship to the Multiday games and the forms of the games are so different we might as well try to compare baseball to snooker.

Tonight's match

August 3 2017, 9:46 PM

It's fairly obvious where we are going wrong ! Even to us amateurs ? Quite simple, Willey and Rafa are bowling far too many overs, they appear to be averaging about 11 runs an over over recent games, that's at least 2 runs per over too much and with both of them bowling 3 overs most matches that's about 12 runs too many which would have won us both the last two matches ! And unless Fisher is injured only bowling 1 over for 7 runs is quite ridiculous, somebody needs to explain this to me because this is very poor captaincy/ management in my opinion.

Yes concur with that re Willey and Rafa - if its so obvious to us ( and it is ! ) then why can't the captain and management see it ? Being unable to defend 223 and 180 in 2 consecutive games is disastrous IMHO
