Prospects

August 6 2017, 8:09 AM

A bit cool and cloudy this morning but dry at least. Possible chance of a shower later but hopeful of a full days play.

It looks like we might lose quite a wedge of play later on in the week so it will need to be a one sided game to get a result.

Hopeful rather than confident.

Laughable again. Poor David Willey can't get a gig in this outfit.

Lees could have been out twice with rash shots before getting out and Brook played rash shot after boundary in previous over. K-C looked as though he got good one. Surely Willey would place as batsman. Now Leaning gone with hesitant prod. Have booked for four days so not looking good for a competitive game 😔

Four of our five specialist batsmen out within 40 minutes. We have some serious issues.

Tim back in the hutch now. All out before lunch?

Pathetic, time for Lees and Leaning to move on now.

Bresnan sawn off with clear inside edge but the other four out to good bowling although in two cases naivety in hitting a boundary led to their downfall.

Never mind Willey not getting a gig. At the moment our middle order could be any other Tom Jack and Harry and they'd score more runs.

Even Tom Thumb Jack and his Beanstalk and Harry Houdini could do better

Hope nobody has spent money on a B&B for 3 nights as you won't be needing it sad.gif

Pathetic doesn't even begin to describe our batting!

Just disgraceful but hardly surprising. We can hardly even say we're in a relegation "scrap" anymore. Just a rapid descent to the inevitable.

Not good (nearly) enough

August 6 2017, 1:05 PM

Some of us have seen this coming for awhile now and took some flak earlier in the season on these forums for being what some perceived as overly negative.

The fact is Yorkshire (without it's England stars and with several players past their best-buy dates or having become increasingly injury-prone) does not have a first division caliber batting lineup, let alone a championship batting lineup. And yes, we should be VERY worried about being demoted. This team appears to be in freefall!

That said, a team with our proud traditions should not be in the second division.

Obviously some major changes should be afoot - especially in the opening batting department. And perhaps at the management level since they should have seen this coming, especially when our one remaining talismanic batsmen, Gary Ballance, was inevitably drafted away by the predatorial ECB.

But let's hope our bowlers come up with a performance for the ages in this match.

Alex

It feels as if we've walked out this morning waving the white flag, however with Sidders, Coad and a good Brooks the absurd may just happen.

Not sure about Houdini - he seemed to be able to find lots of ways to get out. He could have slotted in well with this side.

Should add, on a rare positive note, good knock from Lyth though - good to see.

We've failed to do the basics. See off the new ball.

Lees is good enough, just out of form. Brook is not good enough YET to bat three and there must be significant doubts about leaning. TKC not good enough.

Brooks in front of patto and also Willey is very debatable.

Lyth and sid have looked comfortable but gives some prospective.

Overall very poor. I'm not yet pointing my finger but I've lost all confidence in Andrew gale

I've said this on other social media platforms. Gale and his mate Pyrah are out of their depth big time. Should have never given them the first team job. Should have learnt their craft in the seconds and then moved up to the first team. The club took the cheap option and its backfired massively. Whilst you can say the players are to blame, We're playing like Gales career. Average at best!

Brilliantly put Kevin O. We've gone from a coach who played in one of the best test teams of all time to a plodding county pro assisted by a plodding second xi county pro.

Jobs for the boys or just jobs on the cheap?

Either way both have to be handed a P45 and a proper experienced coaching team put in place for next year
