Yorkshire squad:
Winfield (Captain), born Yorks. (Eng)
Brunt, born Yorks. (Eng)
Armitage, born Yorks.
Gunn, (Eng)
Devine, (NZ)
Atapattu,(SL)
Luus, (SA)
Butler,
Crofts,
Davidson-Richards,
Graves, born Yorks
Levick, born Yorks
Nicholls (wk),
Thompson,
Walsh,

It looks a very good side. Although last year the Diamonds did badly. Signing Devine, Luus and Atapattu should improve things alot.

Level of interest

August 11 2017, 8:35 AM

Listened to yesterday's very one-sided game on the radio.

Very small crowd to start, building up to a decent crowd at the end, of course with a men's T20 to follow later in the day.

At one stage, about half way through the match, Alison Mitchell claimed 'make no mistake these people have come to watch this game'.

I think they should be more realistic and take the turnstile numbers at the start of the game as giving a true reflection on the level of interest. These numbers are available.

Of course some people will come earlier than normal for the night match knowing there is some entertainment on. But I'm not sure you can claim many who come in half way through the game as being really interested.

Of course the real test would be a stand alone game.

Does anyone know how Sophie Devine can get away with batting in a cap. I thought the ECB decreed that ALL cricketers when batting have to wear a helmet even if facing gentle slow bowlers.

Lancashires fielding up to now has been very poor.

Our opening slow left armed, Thompson has a quirky unique action to say the least. Nearest description is to liken it to Paul Adams the frog in the blender.

The stand out difference so far between the two teams is the fielding with the Pyrah influence strong to see

Gavin -- I was also sure that there was a ruling in place re helmets being compulsory. Safraz came out in the last T20 without a helmet, and hurriedly had to put one on. Maybe the rule only applies in England, hence Safraz being unaware, and possibly only in mens cricket??

An excellent win by Yorkshire.
It was a brilliant all round performance.
And no ugly cricket shots..........

Improving

August 11 2017, 5:53 PM

Listened to the last 15 overs or so and they really seemed to have everything under control.

Hope it's a good omen for what comes next!

Interesting to see how they do against the big guns at the Oval on Sunday. Playing the game after the men's I believe. Hope a decent number stay for it.
