Only 4 wickets lost and we make 180.

Love to hear the think tank explain why we need nudgers and nurdlers at the crease together at the back end of a T20 inns.

Too predictable with batting order. With Marsh at one end we should have promoted big hitters at other like Leaning, Plunkett and Bresnan, with Rashid coming in if Marsh got out. Also they expected Rafiq to bowl first over and decided to target him immediately. Once they got off to a real flier, we were chasing the game - as was said before, we needed to score at least 200 if we batted first. We need strike bowler for next season (like Amir!) who is not easy to slog like our medium pacers.

Sooner the chuckle brothers go the better. No doubt Gale will pass the blame on and say they're practicing hard etc

Spot on Alibor, ended up 10 to 15 short due to our hitters not even getting a chance

Pretty depressing that all we have left now is our battle for first division survival, Gale & his sidekick Pyrah are clearly out of their depth in their roles, time to get rid at the end of the season & let him spend more time watching his beloved football team

Run rate

August 12 2017, 5:53 PM

We have played more games than anyone yet have the best run rate in either division but are out of the competition...so for once it seems that it is the bowling that is at fault plus an inability to defend above average totals??? Bizarre.

Paul

Surely a good net run rate relies on scoring runs and getting the other side out cheaply, which involves both the batsmen and bowlers. It's not one or the other happy.gif

I think we can still qualify if we win the last match & other results go our way

If NRR decides group positions if level then winning our last match still gives us a reasonable chance of qualifying.

T20 Blast | Leicestershire vs Yorkshire at Grace Road (Match Thread)

August 12 2017, 6:06 PM

Qualification is now hanging by a very slender thread after this defeat. If we do somehow manage to qualify, defeat would then be inevitable. From seven away games, 2 were abandoned, 1 was tied after a rain interruption, and the other 4 were all lost in the last over.

As others have, why Rashid was promoted ahead of Leaning is a complete mystery. In our innings, were we only lost the fifth wicket from the last ball of the innings, we only managed to hit 2 6's, Leicester managed 6.

Very unlikely combination of results may get us through if we win our last game yes. Nothing like a bit of straw clutching.

Several freak results, or every match rained off, except ours, which we win, may get us through, but realistically we are out. We can hope for these freak results and clutch at a few straws though.

Obviously all depends on us winning our last match.

But if we do the results elsewhere don't need a massively unlikely combination.

To pass us Leics and Bham would need to win 2 games. Derbys 2 from 3 and Northants their last.

Can we dodge 2 of those.. Not too unrealistic.

Huddersfield Town won so Gale will be happy. Let's hope he can concentrate on them rather than us soon

Our inability to win close games continues- so frustrating after last night...

To qualify we'll have to beat Northants and will need at least one favour from Durham; it may look unlikely with them having only won 3 from 11, but those 3 wins did come in their last 5 games so perhaps there is hope.

P.S. what are we giving Sarfraz in Dave M's scoring system for overseas players after his third failure in a row as well as keeping ineptitudes? Awful...

A few weeks ago the moaners were complaining because Bresnan and Willey bowled 2 overs each at the start of the innings. Blame Gale for not trying something different , why not a spinner at the start ? Now we are too predictable for bowling Rafa over 2 - and it is still Gale's fault ! Lets change the coach , this one obviously can't tell the spinner not to get hit for 20 off his first 4 balls.

Re: T20 Blast | Leicestershire vs Yorkshire at Grace Road (Match Thread)

I'm confused over what is used if teams are on the same points.

Sky show tables based on run rate whilst Cricinfo's table is based on wins then run rate.

Run rate is better for us as we've won one match less than other teams on he same points. Yorks have only won 5 matches whilst all the other teams on 13 points have won 6 matches (we've had a tie & 2 washouts to their 1 washout). Due to us winning well but only just losing we have the best run rate.

So atm we are 3rd on Sky but 6th on Cricinfo.

Sadly I suspect that Cricinfo are correct as that's how other English County leagues opperate.

If so its less likely that we can go through. Even if Yorks beat Northants we'd need 2 of the 4 teams currently above us to end up with less than 15 points to qualify. Lancs are 2 points behind with a game in hand but have won a game less than us with a far inferior run rate, so we'd probably be higher in the table if we ended up on the same points at them (unless they absolutely hammered teams in their last 2 matches)
