Warwickshire v Glamorgan in the first semi.

followed by Hampshire v Notts.

Who`s your money on?

I think a Warwickshire v Notts final, with Notts winning.

Wow, this thread is popular to say it deals with the only top level cricket in the UK today.

Had I been in earlier I would have said Notts all the way - by far the best Northern team and the North is always stronger than the southern softies.

Bat first

September 2 2017, 5:53 PM

Just got back in time to watch the end of the 2nd game.

My memory is fading fast but I do have the impression that historically there is a lot of pressure batting second on finals day, in any of the matches. If statistics prove otherwise I'll be very surprised.

Looking forward to the final, for a lot of complex reasons I'm hoping for a Bears win, but I'd put my £5, if I had one to spare, on the side batting first.

How on earth is Moores allowed to select his son for the Notts team to bat number 3 and keep wicket - they will miss Chris Read. Surely they would be better batting Billy Root at number 3.

Agree Alibor, my thoughts exactly. He should be batting no higher than 10, but if you are the son of the coach.....

Good game to win.

Notts have shown how useful it is to have some back up batting if plan Hales fails.

Bears need a big innings from someone. Probably have to rely on their Kiwi's.

Fair play to Notts. Superb white ball season.

That terrible over of wide slot balls from Oli Stone the difference here.

Hi Ho Silver Lining

September 2 2017, 9:51 PM

I know it's not to everyone's taste but there seemed to be a lot of people having a lot of fun at a cricket match.

Probably too much alcohol consumed by many but nothing different to any normal Saturday night in most Town or City Centres.

Well done Notts.

Lots of people seemed to be having a great time which is what finals day is about. Stupid question time from
How or who decides what ground gets to hold finals day?

Biggest ground that wants it

September 2 2017, 10:30 PM

I think it's as simple as that.

Lords can't do it with all the restrictions on their floodlights etc.

Edgbaston has hosted it for the last 6 years and wants to become the permanent home. Trent Bridge is due to host it in 2019, which is madness given it holds around 8,000 less than Edgbaston. Pretty obvious Edgbaston should be the permanent home of finals day.

What a great spectacle. Over 1000 runs & 3 competitive matches.

Excellent season for Notts - both white ball trophies and Division Two champions. Yet we stuffed them in the first white ball match of this season.

If only we could have fielded the side we had out that day, in a few more matches, who knows? It could well have been us, winning both white ball competitions.

Good to see a Root on the winning team even if his contribution was minimal. He would get more batting time if he played for us of course.

Just read that the 2017 t20 season has a new record attendance total of 883000 bringing in much needed cash to the game. Love it or hate financially cricket needs it.

It really was an excellent tournament. Anybody could beat anybody else and just about every team had a shout of the quarters by the last couple of group games.
Player of the tournament was Wayne Madsen for me, although he had an absolute shocker in the quarter final!
Up and down from the tykes. Great at home and simply awful away.
