Not going to see much of Jonny & Joe next season.

The ECB can now make a start on next years fixtures. They have all the International dates & venues, both the white ball comps are blocked and have the same sides in the same groups every year, and nearly all the CC fixtures can be done with a either/or basis for the relegated/promoted teams, so 95% of the fixtures could be completed by the end of this season, just leaving the final few CC fixtures to sort out. No reason why they can not be out within two weeks of this season finishing. Every other sport manages it, every year.

You can guarantee though, that they will still take over 2 months to complete, they will be the usual complete mess with clashes, like this year when the semis of the 50 over comp clashed with some ODI`s, and we might just get them in time for Christmas.

So despite the fact that any 2 of 6 could still be relegated from Division 1 and around any 2 from 5 could be promoted from Division 2 would think that "95%" of fixtures could be finalised now?

I would imagine they go back to the counties for a while to look through, as they'd want dates for derbies on a certain date or perhaps to avoid with local events. And of course they'll be tooing and froing over a few of the dates that need to be negotiated.

EYT & Dwight - I take your point. Maybe 60% of them overall, but 100% of the T20 & 50 over comps including the quarters, semis and Finals.

According to Mark Arthur at a Forum, the counties put in bids for what they would ideally like. Our top priority is the Scarborough festival fixture. They work through each county's priorities in order seeing how many can be achieved. This may or may not be the best approach, but it clearly couldn't be carried out until all promotion and relegation is settled.

Nice to see the Oval back as the final Test.

Only two Tests against Pakistan?

What's with the 12.30pm start for the India ODI?

That's neither a day fixture not a day night fixture.

Is it a compromise so that the match doesn't finish too late for the Indian TV audience? It would end at about midnight over there, give or take, but still get the crowds in the ground who would only need to take the afternoon off.

Taking an educated guess with the T20 Blast it looks like we'll be without Plunkett, Rashid and Willey for the first two weeks of the group stage. An improvement from the last two or so years where Yorkshire would lose England players at various points of the season. I'm guessing that the T20 Quarter Finals will take place on Summer Bank Holiday weekend.

With the New Zealand tour running into April, Yorkshire will be lucky to have Root and Bairstow for a couple of weeks in May. Question is will they be playing County Championship or One Day Cup cricket?

The August B/H weekend would be a great time to have the T20 quarters, or have a full program of CC matches that weekend with those 4 day matches starting on the Friday.

Only two Tests against Pakistan is a disgrace after last year's great series. Do we really need 5 meaningless ODIs against Australia the summer after a full Ashes tour? It's not only the county game that the ECB's greed is hurting...

Also, I don't like the idea of T20 Finals Day, which should be county cricket's showpiece event, shoved back into the middle of September, with poor weather and the predominance of football to contend with. It didn't work with the 50 over finals of recent years and I don't think it will with Finals Day.

Agree JG, re the Aussie 1 dayers, especially as they are touring the following year with probably another 6 or 7 white ball matches then as well.

Just not needed, as the international calendar is busy enough next year.

Given we have a World Cup here in 2019, 5 games against one of the best teams is surely good preparation?

We're scheduled to play Pakistan in some ODI's in May 2019 so I'd be very surprised if we played any against the Aussies.

Agree about finals day though, it worked so well this year, the lack of Premier League football helped push it up the sports new agenda.

If we wanted to play ODIs against the best opposition surely Champions Trophy winners Pakistan would be a better choice than a side which was eliminated in the group stage of that competition in Australia... Make no bones about it, the scheduling is about money and nothing else.
