Better weather forecast is for next two days as I head off toLondon and Cardiff.....

But overnight rain again. Will the staff be bothered to mop up?

So far so good. TKC left out for Lees to move to three.

Looks like the rain will be the only winner in this match, it would be nice to take maxiumum bonus points.

Not rotating the strike very well. Lyth 5 singles in 72 balls .

So what?

The circus is over this is proper cricket

Lyth is our opener. His job above all else is to be there at lunch...you want him to risk his wicket just to get the odd single?

Middx have bowled well all morning....adam has been up to the task....keep it going mate...runs will become easier to get this afternoon

Brooks

September 6 2017, 12:29 PM

Jack Brooks stormed out of Headingley this morning after not been picked.
Rumour is Lancashire are interested.

Brathwaite will be our overseas next year if he impresses as he's available all year apparently.

Brooks may be outraged not to be selected, but on his figures and his pace this year he can't really be surprised.

Lyth and Lees seem all but strokeless, but at least they are still there. Maximum batting points should certainly be the aim, given the weather.

What do you mean "so what" ?

Even in "proper" cricket it is important to rotate the strike so the bowlers don't get too settled . Assuming 4 slips a bowler and a wicket-keeper, man at long leg , there must be gaps somewhere to push an odd single without risking losing his wicket ..

Perhaps it is just me but 6 single 101 balls seems suprisingly few . Whilst acknowledging off course it is good he is still there .

In fairness the bowling was an odd mixture of testing deliveries and near wides.

So lyth tries to guide the ball to third man for the odd single and gets caught behind.

Happy now Gary?

Call me old fashioned but I preferred him to send the bad ball to the boundary and keep the good balls from getting him out

You want us to be 250-2 at close. Then you'll be the first to moan that we haven't made an attempt for maximum batting points.

I didn't see much of an effort to guide it to third man from Adam. I thought he got a good ball. Gary on the other hand has just thrown his wicket away.

Unplayable delivery by Harris to get Lyth out, superb pace, line and length.

The Ballance dismissal was a disgrace, there was no need to flash at a wide one when he got off the mark with two boundaries.

Overcast onditions and good bowling not making it easy, I think the standard of pace bowlkng has gone up in the County Championship this year.

Alex Lees not happy with his lbw. It did look a bit dodgy. And now for some reason Hodd in at 6.

We are real shambles - no batting points again. and relegation looming. If that happens, all our better players may leave - why on earth did Moxon and Club appoint Gale as coach.
