A pointless day with a couple of bonus points to chase and Middlesex to aim for the follow on target.

You'd like to think the skippers would have a chat and we set Middlesex 300 in 50 overs that they chase come what may losing wickets along the way. But that sort of thing just isn't cricket is it and would be frowned upon at lords

Well I don't think there's much chance of any play today given the torrential rain in Leeds this morning... I hope the weather at Edgbaston is just as bad!

Bit optimistic there TU, thinking we will get 50 overs in. Looks like a complete washout today. Hopefully for everyone!!

Hope if there is no play today its the same for everyone but doubt it, the CC is probably the most unfair sporting event there is with teams being deprived of players at the request of the ECB Southern teams enjoying more game time etc

My comment was firmly tongue in cheek with reference to the last game of last season with the power being more in our hands this time around

It would be good to know updates every 30 minutes it has stopped raining in York and the sun is out so hopefully it will be same in Leeds at this moment

Not sure you could say the suns out here in Leeds. The rain has just about stopped now though.

Even if it dries the light is sepulchral (good word, isn't it?) or maybe crepuscular.

News at the ground. Raining steadily. Lunch at 12 with an inspection. Not looking promising.

We want just enough play for Yorkshire to pick up another bonus point, whilst keeping Middlesex under 200. Peter is vindicated! These points are really going to matter - unless we can win a game or two, then they won't.

I'm not bothering today, so at least my photos will be done on time, for once.

The forecast for Leeds is better than that for Birmingham. Really wishing the Force is with Warwicks. Or the Gods of Rain.

---------------------------

12:30. Play due to start at Edgbaston. Uh-oh. Whereas we have an inspection at 1.

We still have an inspection at 1, even though it's now 1.35, according to the awful Cricinfo. Meanwhile
Somerset within two wickets of victory.

Both Middlesex and Essex have declared with 8 down, presumably to prevent ourselves and Lancs gaining the final bowling point. Is that permitted?
