The BBC forecasts I am looking at now indicate no rain at the Oval, Taunton or Uxbridge all day.

Grrrr.

Middx still need 28 to get a batting point, with one wicket left.

However, Somerset look nailed on, needing fewer than 70 to win.

--------------------------

Update: Middx scraped one batting point and got out which, given they were unlikely to get another, was probably smart of them; maximising their chances of getting a bowling point or two.

Somerset had a small wobble but are home and hosed.

Yes congratulations and good to see success for a couple of alumni.

Always been hard to like them in the past with their reputation and connections with unsavoury incidents and whilst success this year has been built around an outstanding kolpak and well chosen overseas players, the other home grown players like Porter Bopara Westley Browne Foster and Lawrence with an astute skipper in RTD have been an outstanding combination.

They can now rest them for rest of the season!

I see Hants throwing their wickets away already to help their southern chums too. Four down now but the good news is they have hopefully avoided the follow on target even if it was only 55....

Hampshire 9 down. Do middlesex have a slog till tea, declare and put em in again. 33 overs to get 9 Hampshire first innings wks. Could they get 10 in the last session of 32 overs?

Weather radar is rubbish

September 15 2017, 5:23 PM

I was being very sad this morning at about 10 O'clock trying to work out how weather radar apps work. Had one up for Taunton which showed a supposed heavy shower enroute to the ground. It even had a countdown to when it was due to get there.

It never did arrive and Somerset duly won and spoiled my morning.

Top and bottom all sorted but 4 very interesting games next week.

If Essex can maintain focus and go for an undefeated season, then Hants are in with us nervous boys with not enough points.

I'd prefer it if Essex lost a game....

I'd prefer a proud Yorkshire side to turn up at Chelmsford and say "stick this in your unbeaten season"!!
