It is ironical that last season's title battle is being repeated with same three teams fighting for survival - will ECB intervene again!?

Well done to this pair - wonder how Adam is feeling when two new openers have achieved it in his absence!

Irony

September 13 2017, 4:56 PM

Yes, Alibor, not only are the same 3 teams as last year involved, albeit at the other end of the table, but 2 of them play each other in the last match, again, as last year. This time it is Somerset and Middlesex. Wonder if it will be our turn to be disappointed.

It will be interesting if both teams just need 8 points each to stop up.

What are the odds on a bit of collusion with a draw, 3 bowling points each, plus 2 or 3 batting points each!!

No worse than when we colluded last year, also in the last match of the season, to deprive Somerset of the title. That collusion still ranckles with Somerset, and a bit of revenge would probably go down well at Taunton.

Gloom city

Even when we have a decent day some are still looking for the worst possible outcome.

Heaven knows how you'll react when Cas fail to get to O.T.

153 for 0. Very good days work.

Geoff ---- CAS will not win the GF, it will be Wigan or Saints. We have already won the most important one.

Top of the tree after 30 matches, losing just 4, scoring nearly 1000 points, 12 points clear of second place and hmmering just about everyone. Or alternatively, winning two end of season matches to win the GF.

It,s a no brainer, which is the best team of the season.

We can even play very badly, as we did last Friday, and still stuff the second placed team (for the 4th time this season).

That's a fine effort - albeit 400 behind. Just need the bonus points - we can't control what happens elsewhere. Somerset are on the way to a big win it seems.

A great day for us. Just need as many batting points as we can get, hopefully more than Middlesex, and enough to keep us above Somerset.

From where Surrey were overnight, it has been a brilliant performance by the lads to restrict them to less than 600, and fight back with the bat, when with scoreboard pressure it could have gone horribly wrong.

Well Done

September 13 2017, 6:14 PM

Listened to every ball whilst we were batting- heart in mouth. An absolutely brilliant effort-highest opening stand of the season.
Next season we could try top 5 of Brathwaite, KC, Lees, Lyth and Ballance (England call ups aside).

Good day for us and with a decent forecast for tomorrow getting the 5 points for batting should be a priority as Fridays forecast is for rain /showers most of the day. On another note see the ECB has relented to Essex wishes and Cook can now play for them in the last two games so we will have him to contend with at Chelmsford

Been today.
The pitch has few dangers in it but a fine start to our innings.
Bit frustrating TKC getting himself out to a sloppy shot.
I dont think Surrey has much strength in bowling and would be disappointed if we dont get a draw out of this today.

Also always really like the Oval. You can feel the history in the place.

You are right about Surrey having no bowling, hence the 10 draws (assuming this current match ends a draw) from 12 matches this season.

When analysing our last 4 matches, about two weeks ago, I predicted a draw v Middlesex (as we never beat them), a high scoring draw at the Oval "road", a win v Warwickshire, and a loss v Essex.

Hopefully the win mext week will give us enough points to stop up. Alternatively, if Essex win the title tomorrow, they might, just might, mentally relax, ease up, take their foot of the gas, or leave some players out when they play us.
