Re: Championship | Surrey vs Yorkshire at the Oval (Day Two)

The fact that middx play Somerset last match actually works in our favour.

If we beat warks and middx and soms fail to win we are guaranteed to stay up as we only have to finish above Either soms or middx, not both.

Therefore both sides would need to win and not even an ecb conspiracy make that happen.

This round

Think we need to see how this round unfolds, then the next round, then we can worry about the final round.

Hope to see 5 batting points being collected and Yorkshire equal Surrey for the number of centurions in the first innings.

Still a long way to go.

What a difference a day makes.

Should get a draw from here. Well done,

I dont think a win v Warwickshire is nowhere near the gimmie we are thinking it is.
Just concentrate on the Surrey game and once thats over plan next game.

You can find opinions & reports on today's play in previous posts, on the Tele, on the Wireless, in the newspapers, by hearsay word-of-mouth, pigeon of the variety carrier. Why would I want to bore you with mine?

But. Ah. Got you.

Will you find a report on what The Beer was like at The Oval? How elusive is such a report? If you dwell in The Realm Of Black Sheep Only (ie East Stand Long Room). What would ye know of strange, alternative beers?

Anyway. I counted seven different ales across The Oval Long Room Bar & Kennington Club Bar. I drank two.

Tillingbourne, Hop Troll IPA 4.8%
Portobello, Blonde 4.2%

And, rain permitting, I will drink more on the morrow.

All described, along with cricket insults, in my Blog

Brilliant stuff, Phil, and how lucky to be there on a day when Surrey made 194 for 7 to Yorkshire's 171 for 1. We should be well ahead in this match, unless we had a poor day 1.

Let me check.

Oh.

That's good stuff, Phil, but the photographers have set the technical bar very high. I want to know the specific gravity figures and whether you're getting high notes of charred herbs and ripe gooseberries.

The Wimbledon Common Pale Ale in the Long Room was very quaffable on a sunny Tuesday. OG: 1037
